Burns Recovered

Burns Recovered The Mission of Burns Recovered is to help every burn survivor live life to the fullest without limitations, fear, or insecurity.

We provide supportive services to persons of all ages who are affected by severe burn injuries. Burns Recovered (BRSG) provides support for burn survivors and their loved ones as well as community outreach to increase burn awareness and prevent burn injuries. Our key program is a residential summer camp experience for children and teens who have experienced severe burn injuries. Approximately 75 b

urn-injured children enjoy an unforgettable week of water sports, zip lining, crafts, fishing, archery and more at the beautiful Camp Sabra in the Lake of the Ozarks; camp is staffed with 40+ volunteers including fire fighters, paramedics, medical providers and adult burn survivors, as campers learn to “love the skin they’re in.”

In addition to camp, BRSG also provides: peer support meetings for burn survivors in St. Louis and Columbia; community support events including bowling parties, family picnics, and holiday parties; aid to burn survivors with treatment and rehabilitation; school/work re-entry support; prevention/education programs; an emergency assistance fund; and a scholarship fund. Working together, we are dedicated to providing support for burn survivors and their families, helping with the prevention and reduction of pain and suffering caused by burns and burn-related injuries.

One of the most powerful moments of the Adult LIFE Retreat weekend is “Share Your Story.”

Participants who feel comfortable can share parts of their burn journey with the group. Others may simply listen.

No pressure. No expectations.

Just a space where stories are heard, understood, and respected.

Sometimes the most healing thing is realizing someone else understands.

Registration closes June 1. Register today at https://app.campdoc.com/register/mcbc

Healing doesn’t end after the hospital stay.

It continues in the conversations, the support, the shared understanding, and the moments when survivors realize they are not alone. 💛

At the Burns Recovered Adult LIFE Retreat, survivors and co-survivors come together to build connection, share experiences, and support one another through every stage of recovery.

Because sometimes the most powerful part of healing is simply having someone beside you who understands.

Today is Giving STL Day! It is a time to come together and support the causes that make our community stronger.

Through programs like Midwest Children's Burn Camp, Family Camp, and ongoing peer support, we create spaces where individuals and families can connect and heal. Your support helps make this incredibly supportive community possible.

We’re proud to share that our Director of Programs, Madeleine Carson, recently joined the Girls with Grafts podcast, hosted by the Phoenix Society, to talk about the powerful impact of burn camp and the role of volunteerism in supporting survivors. Madeleine offers meaningful insights into how these experiences foster healing, connection, and confidence for young burn survivors - and why dedicated volunteers are at the heart of it all. Give it a listen to learn more about the community behind burn camps and the difference it makes every day.

Due to the storm yesterday, we made the decision to reschedule our golf tournament to August 3rd.

The good news is this gives more time to join us. Foursomes are still available, so grab your team and be part of a great day supporting burn survivors.

We appreciate your understanding and look forward to seeing everyone out on the course in August.

Last week, Rachel attended the American Burn Association Conference in her role as Medical Director and Midwest Children's Burn Camp - camp nurse. The conference brings together burn care professionals from across the country to share the latest research, treatments, and best practices in burn recovery.

While there, Rachel focused on building meaningful partnerships for Burns Recovered and expanding her knowledge so that Burns Recovered will continue to be one of the best after-care programs in the world for burn survivors.
