What can local data teach us about immigration enforcement in Missouri?

Last week, Ashrei Foundation hosted an Insights webinar introducing our new Eastern Missouri Immigration Enforcement Data Dashboard and exploring what Hotline data reveals about enforcement trends, detention, access to legal information, and the impact on Missouri families.

We were honored to be joined by Dr. Austin Kocher, one of the nation's leading researchers on immigration enforcement, for a thoughtful conversation about transparency, accountability, and human dignity.

📚 Read Dr. Kocher's reflection and much more in his "In Good Company: Nine Immigration Conversations You Might Have Missed This Week" on his substack at https://austinkocher.substack.com/p/in-good-company-nine-immigration

Together, these resources offer important context for understanding what is happening in our communities and why access to reliable local data matters.

đź’” A difficult setback for a family working so hard to build a new life.

The Rahmani family arrived in St. Louis after fleeing Afghanistan and were welcomed through Ashrei Foundation's Refugee Resettlement Project. Over the past year, they have worked tirelessly to create a stable home for their family, learning English, navigating new systems, supporting their children, and building a future in their new community.

This week, that journey hit an unexpected obstacle: the family's (new to them) car was stolen.

For many families, losing a vehicle is devastating. For the Rahmanis, it means losing access to work, medical appointments, school activities, grocery shopping, and the independence they have worked so hard to achieve.

Because the vehicle carried liability-only coverage, the loss is not recoverable through insurance.

We're asking our community to help.
đźš— We are seeking financial contributions toward the purchase of a reliable replacement vehicle

If you would like to contribute, please make a gift at https://conta.cc/4e5vlxB

Know of a dependable vehicle that can accommodate a family of 7 that's up for donation? contact us at https://www.ashreifoundation.org/contact

The Rahmanis have overcome enormous challenges with resilience, determination, and the support of a caring community. We hope to help them take this next step forward.

Together, we can help ensure that one act of theft does not derail over a year of hard-earned progress.

Every call to the STL Rapid Response Hotline tells a story about how immigration enforcement impacts families in our region.

Our bilingual volunteer team helps people locate detained loved ones, access legal consultations, recover impounded vehicles, secure documents for children, and connect to critical resources.

The data from these calls helps power Ashrei's new Immigration Data Dashboard, providing a clearer picture of local immigration enforcement and its effects on our community.

Today we're launching the Ashrei Immigration Data Dashboard.

For the past year and a half, the St. Louis Rapid Response Hotline has supported hundreds of detained immigrants and their loved ones while gathering critical information about immigration enforcement in Missouri. Our new dashboard shares that data in a de-identified, accessible format to help our community better understand who is being detained, how people are ending up in ICE custody, and the impacts enforcement has on families across our region.

The numbers matter, but behind every data point is a person, a family, and a community navigating separation, uncertainty, and loss.

Join us on Friday for an Ashrei Insights webinar with Dr. Austin Kocher. Together, we'll explore what the data tells us about immigration enforcement in Missouri, how it connects to national trends, and what it means for advocacy and action.

What do immigration trends tell us about what's happening in our communities right now—and what can we do about it?

Join us on Friday for the next installment of the Ashrei Insights webinar series featuring Dr. Austin Kocher, a leading researcher and expert on immigration data and enforcement.

Building on the conversation we began during Dr. Kocher's visit to St. Louis in March, this webinar will explore findings from Ashrei's Immigration Data Project, place them in the context of national immigration trends, and identify paths for action and advocacy.

Whether you're an advocate, service provider, policymaker, or community member, you'll leave with a deeper understanding of the data shaping today's immigration landscape.
