The mission of Pedal the Cause is to provide critical funding for cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children’s Hospital through our annual cycling challenge. It is our hope that research funded by Pedal the Cause will ultimately lead to a cure for cancer. Founded in 2010 with the bold model of using 100% of public donations to fund world-class cancer research,

Pedal the Cause has quickly become the gateway to curing cancer – all cancers, for everyone. In this period of diminished federal funding where support typically gets funneled to already proven concepts, many potential new ideas are not deemed eligible. Pedal the Cause donations “seed” best-in-breed ideas at our beneficiaries to allow the cultivation of proof of concept and critical data. These seeded projects often turn into groundbreaking results that lead to new treatments and cures, preventions, and early detection diagnostics. Additionally, donations from Pedal the Cause make a positive economic impact in the St. Louis community as stronger research funding will continue to support this high profile and critically important segment of the St.

✨ Since Pedal’s very first year in 2010, Team Bartlett’s Bikers have been an inspiring force within the Pedal community — uniting patients, physicians, researchers, families, and supporters around one shared mission to end cancer. Over the past 16 years, the team has raised an incredible $1,134,201, making them the 4th most impactful team in Pedal history.

🙌 Led by Dr. Nancy Bartlett — a nationally recognized lymphoma specialist and consistent Top Fundraiser — the team embodies the very spirit of this award through their passion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to changing the future of cancer care. Alongside co-captain Dr. Neha Mehta-Shah, a Pedal-funded researcher advancing innovative immunotherapies; team champion Bob Virgil, a 10-time rider, Living Proof; and so many inspiring teammates and supporters whose generosity has helped fuel the team’s success year after year, Team Bartlett’s Bikers represent the powerful impact of community coming together with purpose.

🌟 An unforgettable evening with an extraordinary group of changemakers. Last Thursday, we gathered at Old Warson Country Club for our annual Pedal the Cause Podium Dinner to celebrate 29 incredible 2025 Podium Fundraisers (the most in Pedal history!) and honor Team Bartlett’s Bikers as the recipients of the Dan and Sheila Timm Breakaway Award.

🙌 Together, these inspiring individuals raised $1.4 million in 2025 — that's 27% of our more than $5 million donation last year to fund cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital.

💙 Thank you to everyone who attended and for believing that progress is possible. While none of us can solve a problem as big as cancer alone, together we are doing something remarkably powerful: we are accelerating change. Because of this community, bold ideas are being funded, young investigators are relocating and staying in St. Louis, and patients are gaining access to new therapies sooner. Because of this community, hope is in action.

🙌 The NEW Pedal the Cause Century is here! On September 20, take on 100 miles through the beautiful roads of St. Charles City and County. This flat, fast course offers a smooth and steady century experience, fully supported along the way. With approximately 750' of elevation gain, this Century is designed for steady pacing and strong, sustained effort.

🚨 Participants must be 13+ years old to participate and must maintain a minimum average pace of 14 mph.
