New on Bach Talk! 🎙️

The San Diego Master Chorale knows how to bring people together. They understand that a group of human voices singing together is one of the few things capable of uniting completely different people in perfect harmony.

In our season three finale of Bach Talk, we're sharing a conversation recorded live at the 2025 Chorus America Conference. The Bach Society of Saint Louis’ Danielle Feinstein and Scott MacDonald sat down with Executive Director Jen Rogers and Music Director John K. Russell to talk about building community through song. Jen and John share the secret sauce behind the 130-voice ensemble’s recent massive growth and the day-to-day realities of running an arts organization. 85 years of music all started with a single performance! 🎶

Back in 1941, Dr. William Heyne conducted Bach’s Mass in B minor and set everything in motion. Now that our 85th season has come to a close, we're taking a look back at how we got here, including the moment A. Dennis Sparger took the podium in 1986. For the past 40 years, Dr. Sparger has led the Society as Music Director and Conductor. Take a look back at the journey, from our early history to what makes Dennis such an encouraging leader, master storyteller and the heart of our musical family.

Thank you, Maestro Sparger, for four decades of leadership, and thank you to our audience for supporting us through 85 incredible seasons.

What an unforgettable afternoon of music to close out our 85th season! We are still buzzing from the incredible energy at Peace Lutheran Church during last Sunday's performance of both the J.S. Bach and C.P.E. Bach Magnificats.

We are deeply grateful to our Chorus and Orchestra under the direction of A. Dennis Sparger, along with our phenomenal guest soloists Nola Richardson, Veronica Roan, Steven Soph, and Tyler Duncan.
