Sometimes the simplest sayings stay with us for a lifetime. It was a full house at the Mirowitz Center, as local author Alan Spector shared stories, humor, and personal reflections inspired by his book, Life Lessons Learned: As My Dad (and Others) Used to Say.

Alan took participants on a thoughtful and entertaining look at the advice we heard growing up and the ways those words continue to influence us. The program sparked plenty of laughter, memories, and conversation as everyone reflected on the lessons they’ve carried through the years.

It was a fun, hands-on morning filled with creativity, conversation, and plenty of smiles. We love seeing where a little imagination can lead!

Directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta, and Joe Pesci, this acclaimed crime drama follows Henry Hill as he rises through the ranks of the New York mob, revealing the excitement, loyalty, betrayal, and violence that come with a life in organized crime.

With its unforgettable characters, sharp dialogue, dark humor, and iconic performances, Goodfellas is widely regarded as one of the greatest crime films ever made. Based on a true story, this gripping classic offers a fascinating — and often unsettling — look inside the world of the Mafia.

With a really important election coming up on November 3, the Mirowitz Center was glad to welcome nationally recognized attorney Denise Lieberman to help us vote with confidence. Rules and procedures for voting can be confusing, and Denise explained Missouri’s voting process, including registration, deadlines, voter ID requirements, absentee voting, accessibility resources, misinformation, and where to find trustworthy election information.

Denise is Director and General Counsel of the Missouri Voter Protection Coalition and Faculty Director of the Voter Access and Engagement Initiative at Washington University in St. Louis, where she is also an adjunct professor of law and political science.

Thank you to our co-sponsors: Jewish Community Relations Council of St. Louis (JCRC), National Council of Jewish Women St. Louis, and Women's Voices Raised For Social Justice.

Step into the charged aftermath of World War II, when the world confronted the scope of N**i atrocities through the rule of law. In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the October 1, 1946, Nuremberg verdict, Barnes M. Bradshaw of Historically Speaking brings to life the voices, tensions, and moral reckoning inside the courtroom. Through vivid storytelling, he explores how the tribunal set enduring precedents for international justice, holding leading figures of the N**i regime accountable and reshaping the global understanding of crimes against humanity.
