For some wonderful reason, two of our pies have been flying off the shelves recently. One is our beautiful apple pie (see pic below) and one is our chocolate bourbon pecan pie. So we wanted to put out a note that if you are going to order these for Thanksgiving, please do so early as we may run out of them. We will hold for Thanksgiving but it's first come, first serve. Apple prices are high because of shipping cost so we have to charge $27 for them. And now pecan prices are going up quickly I think because of the wildfires in the west. We have not increased their price yet but...

My favorite pie is our "Kiss Me In The Dark" lemon pie but our pumpkin pies are special too.

Laughing Bear is announcing an increase in our apple pie costs due to fuel costs. Since most of our apples come out of the State of Washington, we've been told that the price of apples is not coming down this year in apple season. We are almost paying twice what we paid for apples last year. We've been limping by trying to keep our prices the same for the last year and a half but this one got us. So, while the rest of our pies will remain at $25; our apples pies unfortunately will have to go up to $27.

Last week we had a woman walk into the bakery from Switzerland. She was fascinated by the German Chocolate Cake. Never heard of it. Then this Monday a man came in from Germany. I asked if he ever heard of it and he said no. And he's a bakery. So I did some research and here's what I found...

German chocolate cake originated in the United States, specifically in Dallas, Texas, rather than in Germany. It is named after American chocolate maker Samuel German and was popularized by a 1957 recipe submission from a Dallas homemaker.

We are making our "Kiss Me In The Dark Lemon Pies" and boy are they great. Best eaten half frozen.

Will be here this Saturday for a short time - 10 a.m. till 11 am. if anyone wants to come by and pick one up for Father's Day. Will not stay past 11 a.m.
