Starring Nick “Son of John” Cassavetes and dozens of real-life Los Angeles gang members who appear as part of a rehabilitation program, this is the best movie on earth about a stockbroker seminar that turns into a co***ne-fueled rage war. DESPERATION RISING is filled with dad karate, phone s*x, real s*x, co***ne, humans exploding, talking parrots, U*i battles, more co***ne, and rappin’ kids. This psychedelic sleaze-burger could only be better if director/star Jason Holt wrote and recorded Casio-soaked yacht rock songs with titles like “Get Ready To Rip” and “Love Blooms” for the soundtrack. Oh wait. He did!

STLVS PRESENTS martial arts legends Donnie Yen and Yuen Woo-Ping in a decidedly different kung fu context with MISMATCHED COUPLES on Monday, January 12th! Though these two are most known for kicking asses in films like HERO, IP MAN, IRON MONKEY, and SNAKE IN EAGLE'S SHADOW (to name a few) this film is an absolutely freaky, comedy classic that focuses on competitive breakdancing. That's right...Donnie's character Eddie is a breakdance battler and is hopelessly lost in love. Yuen, in a slapstick supporting role as Mini, causes serious problems wherever he goes...

It's a surprisingly funny and frantic experience, and a film that hasn't really been widely released in the United States. From Tsui Hark's Cinema City production company, MISMATCHED COUPLES is a fresh and funky start to your New Year!
