UFCW Local 88

Congratulations to Local 88 member Theresa Schnur at Dierbergs Lafayette Center on 18 years of hard work and dedication to serving customers in the community! She is a dedicated member of Local 88, joining us at meetings, volunteering, and even being on our committee for negotiations! We are sad to see Theresa go, but we all want to thank her for everything she does in making our Union the best it can be. We hope she spends this much deserved time off relaxing and enjoying more time with her family.

Happy Retirement Theresa!! We’ll miss you!!

Electronic shelf labels are spreading rapidly in grocery stores all across the country. If this technology continues to go unchecked, American workers could lose up to $6.9 BILLION dollars every year.

As grocery stores automate more of the work traditionally done by employees, it is critical we understand what is truly at stake for workers and their livelihoods. A new study from the AFL-CIO Tech Institute examines exactly that.

🚨 Attention Retirees! 🚨

Special announcement from President Norris

For years many have of us have asked the age-old question of what is out there after I retire. For those in Local 88 we often questioned, why did we not have a retires club for our amazing membership? I am thrilled to announce that last month we finalized an amazing partnership with what used to be the UFCW Local 655 retirees club, which going forward will now be the UFCW Local 655 & 88 retiree’s club.
I was honored to be able to speak at the first luncheon of this newly adjusted group and I could not have imagined the amazing job that they all do. From seeing faces I worked with years ago to the games and the food they certainly made me feel welcome as I know they will all our amazing retiree’s. For all of those nearing the finish line I hope you keep this amazing group in mind and have just as much fun as I did seeing those, we worked so closely with in years gone past.

For years we have seen what working separate looked like and I am thrilled to see what all we can accomplish going forward with this new power of partnership!!! Thank you all for all you do each and every day, we see you and we appreciate you all.

Join the New and Soon-to-be Retired Local 655 & 88 Partners on October 13 at 10AM at the Christy Banquet Center!

When workers take on one of the biggest corporations in the world, they shouldn't have to do it alone. We’re fed up with unchecked corporate greed and wealthy executives ignoring their workers and breaking labor laws more than any other company in modern U.S. history. We’re proud to join workers with SBWorkersUnited to until baristas win a fair union contract.

****This Boycott only applies to corporate and standalone stores. We encourage people to patron Starbucks in our Schnucks stores, who are represented by our sister union, UFCW Local 655 ****

Join us and stand with union baristas – take the pledge and let’s show Starbucks that working people stand with baristas until they win. ➡️ BoycottStarbucks.net
