We are saddened by the passing of Kevin Jones. Kevin has been a friend to many of us and served in many capacities, large and small, with CMP for over a decade. Many worked with Kevin for decades at theaters across the St. Louis area including Family Musical Theater, Curtain Call and Over Due. Kevin first appeared with CMP in 2016, singing in the Once Upon a Tree chorus and appearing on stage in Seussical. In the years to follow Kevin directed CMP’s Oklahoma (2019), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (2022) and My Fair Lady (2024). He also directed A Song for Christmas on the CMP stage in 2017, 2019, 2022 and 2023. Kevin’s creativity and attention to detail was also exhibited as the costumer for CMP’s Meet Me In St. Louis (2017), The Wizard of Oz (2018), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (2022) and My Fair Lady (2024). Kevin and his shows received many nominations for Arts For Life best performance awards, winning at least five awards and most recently receiving the award for costume design for Joseph in 2022. Kevin also provided music direction for You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown in 2021.
Kevin fought valiantly against cancer and other health issues over the past few years. Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed, but will be in his hometown of Crete, Nebraska. Plans for a Celebration of Life in St Louis will be announced at a later date with further details communicated here.
CMP is indebted to Kevin for his friendship, creativity and dedication. He will be greatly missed.
