A new beginning, reclaiming our African community; investing in our African future. The BPB project, led by Black Star Industries (BSI) and the African People's Education and Defense Fund (APEDF), is a strike back against the ravaging gentrification that is turning historic black communities white. With your help to bring to life the plan for black community owned and operated institutions such as

a new Uhuru House Community Center at 4101 W. Florissant Ave, the Uhuru Jiko Commercial Kitchen, Bakery and Café at 3723 Goodfellow, and garden/outdoor event space at 4031/4035 W. Florissant Ave, we are kickstarting a new future for the African community in St. These projects will impact on the city through social and economic rebirth. Our institutions will create jobs and commerce. They will attract black culture and arts developed through self-determination projects by an African-led organization dedicated to the leadership and empowerment of the black working class. The African community here, like others around the country, faces poverty, joblessness, poor schools and substandard housing. Louis the police violence against our community is so severe that in 2014 it brought world attention to the police murder of Mike Brown. These are the conditions of the poor and working class African community in a country built on slavery and genocide.

Uhuru Bakery & Cafe will be at Soulard Market this Saturday June 20th 8am-3pm at 730 Carroll St. featuring fresh baked Berry, Pecan, Chocolate Bourbon Pecan, Apple Crumb, Lemon Chess, Sweet Potato and Vegan Sweet Potato pies, vegan chocolate chip cookies, Uhuru Coffee, Ginger Beer and more!

You're invited to the Grand Opening of Uhuru Bakery & Cafe Sat. August 15 noon-5pm at 3719 W. Florissant Ave. This event will feature food tastings from the Uhuru Cafe menu, presentations by powerful change makers like Uhuru Movement leader Chairman Omali Yesh*tela, APEDF President Ona Zene Yesh*tela, live music and poetry, raising red, black and green flags at multiple sites along W. Florissant, a photo display of the neighborhood in the 1950s-60s before the City deliberately let it decay and much more.

Uhuru Bakery & Cafe is part of the Black Power Blueprint that is building programs and institutions to end food apartheid and uplift every aspect of life on the long neglected Northside of St. Louis.

🌱 Volunteer at the Shamba La Uhuru Freedom Farm this Saturday June 20th 9am-noon!

Shamba La Uhuru Freedom Farm is an expansion of the Gary Brooks Community Garden, which is now full of blooming flowers. The farm is the latest project of the Black Power Blueprint and part of our all encompassing strategy to bring healthy food, affordable housing, rejuvenating green space, economic power and self-determination back to the once thriving black community on the Northside!

The farm hit some major milestones in the last week! The fence is completed thanks to Angel and Freddie of Eliedh Construction and we have electricity and light poles thanks to Greg, David and Daniel of Wirenuts Electric.

We planted sweet potatoes, tomatoes, herbs, greens, peppers and more and already harvested some okra!

Join us this Saturday and every first and third Saturday of the month (except July 4th). No experience? We will train you on site. We don't wait for change - We GROW it!
