Want to engage in community service but not sure where to start? Be on the lookout for a new HOBY service initiative launching next month! In the mean time, here are some HOBY Service Tips to help you make that first step!

1. Start With What You Have: Are you good at math? Love to make art? Maybe you enjoy organizing event! Ask yourself, “What are skills that I am good at?” and donate that talent to your community. Volunteer your time at afterschool tutoring, create cards for hospital patients or help an organization in your community plan an event. Your skills are valuable and sharing them can make a big difference!

2. Join A Group: Check if your school, community center or local organization has a group where community service is apart of objectives! This will ensure that you engage in volunteerism throughout the year without having to do it on your own.

3. Talk It Out: If you’re unsure where to start, talk to a teacher, counselor, or family member about how you can help in your community. They can provide guidance, suggest opportunities, or even help you connect with local organizations.
