We love this 💕. Yesterday while walking Marian's Place we came across this little beautiful rock. It wasn't the first time we'd come across one and as Mick said, the surprise "Made my day!". So thank you to whoever the creative soul that left this. We had to look into it more and found that it was and Oakville Rock and that there is a a whole Facebook group dedicated to it https://www.facebook.com/groups/127124561228063
Whether young or young at heart this is so artistic & creative and like with Marian's Place you are using nature to put smiles on faces 😁 Please always feel that this is a place you can use to surprise people with your creations 🪨. How fun!!! Thank you!

The People You Meet at Marian’s Place ❤️

One of the most rewarding parts of Marian’s Place is getting the chance to meet the people who come here—and hearing, firsthand, the difference this special place makes in their lives.

Recently, Tom and our VP, Mick, were looking over different areas of the property when they met Dixie Miller and her sweet 14-year-old dog, Molly. What started as a chance encounter quickly turned into one of those conversations that reminds us exactly why Marian’s Place exists.

Dixie was an absolute joy to talk with. She shared how much she has enjoyed the peace, beauty and opportunity to get outdoors at Marian’s Place over the years—not only for the benefits to her health and well-being, but also because of the many people she has met and friendships she has made here and recalled when Tom would take Marian in Little Red Truck and drive her through the Sunflowers.

We couldn’t have asked for a better person to express what we hope Marian’s Place can be for everyone: a place where nature, wellness and community come together.

Of course, we couldn’t let Dixie and Molly leave without a few photos! We had them pose on the bench and captured some wonderful pictures with Tom and Mick as well.

Then Dixie surprised and honored us in an incredibly meaningful way on this anniversary of Marian’s passing. She generously purchased a picnic table for Marian’s Place in remembrance of Marian and in honor of her beloved Molly. We are deeply grateful, and it will be a lasting place for future visitors to sit, rest, talk, make new friends and enjoy everything around them.

Sometimes the greatest reminder of what Marian’s Place means comes from simply meeting the people—and four-legged friends—who love being here.

Thank you, Dixie and Molly, for making our day and for becoming such a special part of the Marian’s Place story. 💚🌻🐾

Also, a special thanks to Mick, who has been personally bring his mower over to keep the grass areas in shape and keeping the entry flowers looking beautiful in this heat. We couldn’t do it without you Mick!

And we will love you forever Marian. We miss you but always feel your presence here.

Here on this somber day, we remember a day that changed this country forever.

It is a painful day whose effects continue to be felt. Even 25 years later, first responders and military families continue to lose heroes to the lasting effects of that day.

One such loss was experienced by Matt and Marcia Reiff, who lost their son, Zach, in Afghanistan. Meeting this Gold Star family and hearing their story was enough to inspire our friend Rick Randall to start America’s Heartland Remembers and the tribute memorial, Flags of Valor.

We never want to forget that day—or the meaning of the tremendous losses that followed. Standing among more than 7,600 flags on Art Hill brings that loss into powerful perspective and reminds us of the many lives forever changed by the events of September 11 and their aftermath.

Tom has been involved with America’s Heartland Remembers since its early days, thanks to Rick’s determination and the love and support of so many volunteers. Tom was honored when Rick asked him to create a book telling these stories through the voices of Rick Randall and Amy George Rush, accompanied by Tom’s moving photographs.

As Rick now marks this 25th anniversary memorial, we thank him for his dedication, his determination, and his commitment to making sure we all remember.

🌻 Our beloved 𝘀𝘂𝗻𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱𝘀 will be back! Nearly 5 acres are being planted soon, with peak blooms 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗶𝗱-𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁
🪑 𝗔 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 with a bench is being developed to welcome visitors and provide park information. It will be a perfect for relaxing and snapping photos.
🪻 𝟱 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 planted last month to support pollinators and bring vibrant color year after year.
🌱 A 𝟮-𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗳 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮 overlooking the Mississippi River—ideal for picnics, play, and group activities.
🚶‍♀️ 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲 to make exploring even better in every season.
