We love granny but she was wrong for having us think black skin was naturally SPF 5000. 😂

A lot of us grew up with that myth that Black people don't get sunburned or need sunscreen. Not true at all.

Yes, melanin does provide some natural protection from the sun's UV rays at somewhere between SPF 8-15. But dermatologists recommend SPF 30 or higher.

Darker skin can still burn and skin cancer can still happen. Skin cancer is often diagnosed later in Black patients, which can make it far more dangerous.

So yes, Sis. Slap some on daily to help prevent aging like a banana on a concrete patio.

And please keep a family size bottle in your beach bag...gotta keep the babies safe too.
