Trying an American single malt. Not as complex on the nose (a little French), but a nice butterscotch tone and soft blanket on the mouth. Finish doesn’t keep its balance—flavor leaves the palate before the sharpness of alcohol wears off. Still not bad for a young single malt, barely over 3. Anyone else try this?

On this International Women's Day, we raise our glasses to the women who inspire us. We especially love you, Elizabeth Cu***ng! You joined your MIL's venture, pregnant and widowed. You grew a small family distillery into John Walker's coveted gem. You secured a future for your family and your community. Though you are not with us now, you continue to breathe life into our values.

Happy Holidays and Slàinte Mhaith!

12/20/2020

Despite the COVID pause on in-person tastings and events, we are still working hard in 2020 for the charities we support, such as Best Buddies Missouri. We’ve got big plans for 2021--new sponsorships for women and people of color seeking formal training as Whisky Ambassadors and more. If you’re looking to finish out the year with charitable giving, please support Black Rock Society. Slàinte Mhath and Happy Holidays!

Hello, beautiful. I’m loving this 1910, a more bold iteration from a distiller with a solid standard. 1910 identifies as a bourbon, but it has all the complexity of a rich single malt. Old Forester pushes the spice needle higher and offers ripe, dry cherries where you would normally find toffee, subtle black licorice where you would normally find vanilla. Thanks to Grapevine Wines and Spirits for the curbside service!
