The Heart Behind the Fez – A Story of the Shriners
In the heart of every Shriner lies the spirit of compassion, fun, and brotherhood. 🌟
It began in 1872, when a group of Master Masons sought to create something more—an organization that blended the solemnity of Freemasonry with the joy of fellowship. They formed what we now know as the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine—or simply, Shriners.
Wearing their iconic red fezzes, Shriners are recognized around the world not just for their colorful parades and brotherly joy, but for the powerful mission they carry: helping children in need.
Through the Shriners Hospitals for Children, they have provided life-changing medical care to hundreds of thousands of young lives—regardless of the family’s ability to pay. From burn recovery to orthopedic surgery to complex care, Shriners have created one of the most respected philanthropic legacies in the Masonic world.
But behind the laughter, the camels, and the fezzes, lies a deeper truth: Every Shriner is first a Mason—a man who has committed himself to the service of others, the pursuit of truth, and the building of character.
Let this serve as a reminder: Freemasonry is the foundation. The Shrine is the joyful extension of that noble path.
Whether we ride in parades, support hospitals, or mentor young Brothers—we do it together, as Masons. As Shriners. As Brothers.
🔺 Because when fun and purpose come together, lives are changed.
