Walk in the Stones event at Mt Peace Cemetery was a lovely opportunity to learn more about the history of St. Cloud. Joshua Stevens Chapter was joined with a few members from the Abraham Salle Chapter. Historic Preservation, Patriotism, and Education was shared with all.

๐Ÿ”Ž Every DAR journey starts with a name.

Maybe itโ€™s your grandmother who kept the family Bible.
Maybe itโ€™s the great-great-grandfather you heard stories about.
Maybe itโ€™s a surname that keeps popping up in records.
What if that name connects you to a Patriot who helped birth a nation?

๐Ÿ“š Our DAR chapter offers free help for women curious about their ancestry. If youโ€™ve ever wondered whether you qualify for membership โ€” or youโ€™ve tried searching but got stuck โ€” we can help guide you.

โœ… All you need is curiosity and a willingness to learn. Weโ€™ll help with the rest.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Comment or message us โ€” we would love to help you research!

Today is the National Day of the Deployed

While Veterans Day gets more attention, October 26 honors those currently serving away from home. DAR members have a long tradition of supporting active-duty service members through care packages, letters, and prayer. Letโ€™s not forget the men and women serving far from their families today.

๐Ÿ’Œ Reach out to someone whoโ€™s deployed and let them know theyโ€™re appreciated!

๐Ÿซ–๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ On This Day โ€” October 25, 1774

In a quiet coastal town in North Carolina, 51 courageous women made revolutionary history. They gathered in Edenton and signed a formal resolution pledging to boycott British goods โ€” especially tea and cloth โ€” in support of the American coloniesโ€™ resistance to oppressive taxation.

This moment became known as the Edenton Tea Party โ€” one of the first organized political actions by women in American history.

๐Ÿ‘’ It didnโ€™t go unnoticed.

Across the ocean, British newspapers responded with ridicule. The image below โ€” titled "A Society of Patriotic Ladies, at Edenton in North Carolina" โ€” was a satirical cartoon published in London in March 1775. It mocked these women for stepping into the political sphere, exaggerating their features and implying they were neglecting their homes and children.

But what the British meant as an insult, we now see as proof of their impact.

๐Ÿ“œ These women didnโ€™t throw tea into a harbor โ€” they signed their names and stood boldly for liberty. And they remind us that patriotism has never been limited by gender.

At DAR, we honor the legacy of women like these โ€” and continue their mission of service, education, and historical preservation.

๐Ÿ”” On this day in 1781, British General Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown, effectively ending the American Revolution.

DAR remembers this as a victory not just of arms, but of resolve, unity, and vision for liberty. ๐ŸŽ– We honor the patriots who made this possible โ€” and recommit to keeping their legacy alive.
