Soaring Dreams accepts & accomodates these individuals' developmental delays & physical limitations allowing them to become contributing members in the community. Two moms founded Soaring Dreams, Inc in 2017 so their adult children with special needs could have a place to continue to learn and grow after leaving school. The shop quickly became a success, with the community stepping up and donating
high quality items to fill the store. The ladies also started microbusinesses within the shop creating opportunities for their kids to find talents and skills that otherwise would have gone unnoticed. I met the ladies when they had decided to retire and close the shop. I loved the concept and decided to take over for them and continue with their vision. I chose to focus on the microbussiness and introduce new products each season. I now have a rotating schedule of 7 special needs volunteers as well as customers who have become like family and help out in various ways. Due to the generousity of our community, Soaring Dreams continues to grow and expand. We have become a "Thrift & Gift Shop" carrying donated items for resale, as well as handmade, giftable items created by my volunteers. Our handmade items include: custom shirts, mugs and coasters; seasonal wreaths, seasonal chocolate goodies, hand stamped leather belts and wallets, personalized ornaments, bracelets and even dog treats and toys as well as walleye harnesses.
