Shout out to Mrs. Whiteley and our fifth graders for leading and organizing this effort!

This past Tuesday the Motor City Mitten Mission along with the Shorewood Kiwanis and the Lake Shore Presbyterian Church hosted our 2nd Annual Dinner with Santa! πŸŽ… It was such a fun night that we were able to provide a great catered dinner, presents 🎁 for the kids and parents and their own little Christmas tree πŸŽ„ to take with them. Not to mention some time with Santa! At the end of the night we had 23 families, 74 kids and 32 parents that we hosted. Most currently struggling with homelessness with some that have currently transitioned from Homelessness to Housing! And thanks so much to all the volunteers and donors for their hard work and generosity that helped make the evening so special! β€οΈπŸ’š

As of Tuesday, December 2nd, the City of Detroit declared a CODE BLUE for our unsheltered population. This means that anyone in need of shelter can walk into an emergency shelter in the City of Detroit and they οΏΌwill be taken in. The MCMM Outreach Team is also available through the City of Detroit After-Hours Helpline Mon-Fri 6pm-8am and on the weekends 24/7 at 866-313-2520. The elements are brutal right now and it is critical for those that are unsheltered to be someone warm. Please stay safe and stay warm! πŸ™πŸ₯ΆπŸ’™

The Motor City Mitten Mission is proud to partner with the City of Detroit Government as the contracted provider for the After-Hours Emergency Shelter & Outreach Services Helpline. Through this partnership, our team is working hard every day to ensure that individuals experiencing homelessness can access emergency shelter and crisis support from 6pm until 8am on weekdays and 24/7 on weekends and holidays. MCMM’s outreach staff responds directly to calls, connects people to shelter options, and provides compassionate, lifesaving assistance across the city. Together with the City of Detroit, we are committed to ensuring no resident is left without help, hope, or path towards safety.

Help is available 24/7. The City of Detroit is reminding residents that if you are having a housing crisis or need emergency shelter, please call the Detroit Housing Resource HelpLine at 866-313-2520.

After 6 PM on the Weekday or 24/7 on
Weekends: If you are sleeping outside or in your car and need shelter right away, there are two options that can help you find a safe place to sleep for the night.

🌟 THIS GIVING TUESDAY, HELP US CHANGE LIVES. 🌟
Today, we join millions around the world in a movement of generosity β€” but at Motor City Mitten Mission, every single act of kindness directly impacts someone experiencing homelessness, hunger, or crisis right here in our community.

At MCMM, our work doesn’t stop.
Not on weekends.
Not on holidays.
Not when the weather turns cold.
Not when everyone else is closed.

Our outreach team is on the streets 365 days a year providing food, warm clothing, hygiene supplies, survival gear, and compassion to individuals who are often at the hardest point in their lives.

We also operate the City of Detroit After-Hours Emergency Shelter & Outreach Services Helpline, connecting people to critical services when no one else is available.
We see pain.
We see struggle.
We see heartbreak.
And we show up anyway β€” with dignity, respect, and hope.

Many of our team members have lived experience β€” some currently working toward stability and housing, some formerly homeless and now rebuilding their lives. Their resilience fuels our mission and reminds us of what’s possible when a community shows up.

πŸ’› THIS GIVING TUESDAY, YOU CAN HELP US:
🍽️ Feed individuals and families facing food insecurity
🧀 Provide warm gear to those sleeping outdoors
πŸ›οΈ Connect people to emergency shelter after hours
πŸš— Support our 365-day street outreach program
🏠 Help people transition from homelessness to housing
πŸ’™ Offer compassion to those who feel forgotten

Your generosity today directly supports the work we will do tonight, tomorrow, and every day that follows.
