The hockey rink is more than just a sheet of ice; for many kids, it's a second home. For a child navigating the heartbreaking loss of a parent, the routine of practice, the camaraderie in the locker room, and the focus required on the ice can provide a much-needed sense of stability.

Hockey gives young athletes a healthy and constructive outlet for big emotions—including sadness, anger, and confusion. Surrounded by teammates and coaches who become like a second family, kids learn they don't have to carry their grief alone.

The hockey community rallies around its own. We've seen it firsthand—the unspoken support from teammates, the parents stepping up to help with rides and gear, and the coaches who provide consistent guidance and a steady presence. The resilience and teamwork learned on the ice can help carry a child through life's toughest moments, giving them the strength to stand tall both on and off the ice.

Let's continue to be that strong, supportive community for every family who needs it.
