This Memorial Day, the motorcycling community was shaken with the senseless loss of a good man, one that touched so many in lasting ways.
Stephen was more than just a friend, or a brother - he was a presence. To know him was to know laughter, loyalty, and a sense of love for those he cared about. He had a way of making everyone feel seen, heard, and valued. Whether you knew him for years or had just met him, Stephen had a way of making you feel like you'd known each other forever. I am convinced that he never met a stranger.
He lived his life with conviction and character. He didnโt just talk about doing the right thing, he did it, even when it was hard. As many have noted, he was the kind of man that would give you the shirt off his back. He believed in honesty, in hard work, and in showing up for the people who mattered. And Stephen showed up. Time and again.
He had passions. His passion for riding motorcycles, supporting local live music, fixing things, and simply enjoying nature the people around him, no matter where he was or who he was with.
He found joy in the small things and his dry, quirky sense of humor would always leave an impression. He was the kind of man who could turn a simple conversation into something meaningful and unforgettable. His infectious smile, and his signature flash of the peace sign will linger in the minds of all that knew him.
Stephen's greatest legacy will live on in the people that he touched.
To his friends and to his community, he willingly and sometimes even forcefully, gave us all pieces of himself. We carry forward his stories, and Iโm sure we all have a few good ones. His uniqueness, and the echoes of his distinct laughter will carry on. We will always remember the way he made us feel; loved, important, and never alone.
Stephenโs time with us, albeit far too short, has left a profound mark upon his community and his friends.
Let us not just say goodbye, but thank you.
Thank you, Stephen, for your sharing your unique heart, and for sharing your love and your laughter.
Until we ride again, may you rest in peace.
