As we all know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For many women, a cancer diagnosis can feel like a death sentence. They may think that their life will never be the same, and that they will have to give up their favorite activities. However, this is not the case with scuba diving. In fact, scuba diving can actually help women who are fighting breast cancer. The sport provides a great way to get exercise, meet new friends, and most importantly, have fun. Scuba diving can help women to feel empowered and motivated as they fight their disease. With the support of the diving community, women can find the strength to fight breast cancer and come out victorious.

Veterans are often hailed as heroes, and rightfully so. They put their lives on the line to protect our country and its citizens. But being a veteran isn't always easy. After returning from combat, many veterans struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which can make it difficult to readjust to civilian life. That's why organizations like Y DIVE are working to provide therapeutic diving experiences for veterans. Diving can help veterans find calmness and peace, and it can also be an effective treatment for PTSD. So the next time you see a veteran, take a moment to say "thank you" - because they've sacrificed so much for us.

Primary duties: A tour guide leads groups of tourists through special experiences while on vacation, such as excursions and activities that require specialized knowledge of the area and how to explore it safely. One type of tour guide is an underwater or marine tour guide who helps tourists navigate excursions that take place underwater. A marine tour guide can lead groups on scuba diving expeditions, supervise tour groups while on swimming excursions in open water and facilitate meetings between guests and local marine wildlife, such as dolphins, stingrays or sharks.

Most people who have had a chemo port implanted experience no problems with diving. If there are no complications with the healing process, the Port-A-Cath® is typically not affected by diving depths. Chemoports are fluid-filled and noncompressible, meaning they won't be impacted by the water pressure at recreational scuba depths. In general, as long as you feel comfortable and your port area is healed, there should be no problem with diving. Of course, it's always best to check with your doctor before participating in any new activities after having a chemoport implanted.
