Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in downtown Spur Thursday night at The Palace Theater - Spur, Texas at 6:00 p.m. Look for their carriage throughout downtown Spur prior to The Palace event.

TODAY'S THE DAY Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, the day you've been waiting for -- to try some delicious varieties of competition-worthy chili, or to bring in you entry and vie for prizes up to $100 cash! Bring your entry to the Spur School (Elementary side) at 9:30 a.m. for judging; stick around for the program; lunch is served to any and all starting at 11:30. Lunch only, with selections of chili recipes and all the fixin's, $10; lunch and program, $20.

It's also a fantastic day to participate in interesting discussions about Dickens County history as our 50 U.S. states prepare to celebrate the 250th birthday of our nation in 2026. After lunch we'll head to the county seat of Dickens to visit the museum and other sites there.

COMING UP THIS SATURDAY IN SPUR

Got a great chili recipe? Here's your chance to win prizes up to $100! Bring your entry (one crock-pot size) to the Spur School Cafetorium (Williams Street side) this Saturday, Nov. 8.

ENTRY FEES have been waived, thanks to the underwriting by local industry leader Galaxy Digital. Judging takes place from 9:30 to 11 a.m., and lunch serving begins at 11:30 (continuing through 2 p.m.).

CRAFT AND FOOD VENDORS will also be on-site throughout the event.

And the Dickens County Historical Commission is sponsoring its annual fall History Ramble, with a program from 10 to 11 a.m. on our America250 project, followed by a group trip to the Dickens County Museum, the H.A.C. Brummett Law Office, and the Dickens Spring after lunch. $20 covers your lunch (with all the fixin's) and the tour--open to the public and historiy buffs from all over.

SPUR
The Spur Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting Spur’s annual Trunk or Treat and Costume Madness
photo booth on the south side of the Lawrence Brothers parking lot on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025 at 6 p.m.
Those wishing to bring their vehicles for
trunk or treat candy giveaway should arrive no later
than 5:30 p.m. for setup in the parking lot.

Costume contest prizes are $50 gift card for first
place, and two $25 gift cards for runners-up.
This event will be until 7:30 p.m. or until dark.

JAYTON
Saturday, Nov. 1 Around the square, there will be Trunk or Treat with vehicles set up at 5:00 p.m. Every participant will receive a Boo Bag, and there will be a contest for best decorated vehicle and costume contest with 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes. Categories include: Best Group, Funniest, Most Creative and Cutest. The Coffee Shop in Jayton will be open on Saturday evening and offering s'mores at 6 p.m.

DICKENS
The Dickens Do-Gooders will be hosting their annual
Trunk or Treat on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025 on the south
end of the Dickens Courthouse grounds.
The event includes a hot dog meal from 4 to 5 p.m.
and a costume contest/parade from 5 to 5:30 p.m.
Booths, candy and games will continue from 5:30 to
7 p.m. Also scheduled are a hayride and raffle.
