Our Mission is to enhance downtown Spruce Pine by fostering economic growth, preserving our unique heritage, and enriching community life through collaborative efforts and innovation. All of our members are volunteers who actively sup
port the mission of the Downtown Spruce Pine Association and the North Carolina Main Street Organization. The organization is committed to cultural equity and diversity in programming, staffing, and operations. The Downtown Spruce Pine Association began with a one-time grant of $21,400 from the Mitchell County Commissioners. This grant was matched by the Town of Spruce Pine in the form of salary and benefits of the Executive Director for the first year. Since then, the Downtown Spruce Pine Association has been permanently funded through an appropriation in the Town’s annual operating budget. Each year, the Downtown Spruce Pine Association hosts three public festivals Downtown, either singularly or in partnership with other area non-profits (ie: Spruce Pine Rotary Club, Penland School of Crafts, and Toe River Arts Council). Along with these annual events, the Downtown Spruce Pine Association chooses projects that will add vibrancy to Downtown.
