🧶Since 1950, Sewing Machine Mart has been a trusted cornerstone in the sewing community — first in Tarrant, later in Homewood, and now proudly serving makers across the entire Southeast. What began as a local neighborhood shop has grown into a regional destination known for exceptional service, premium brands, and a deep commitment to helping people create.
✂️Our story started more than seven decades ago in the heart of Tarrant, where families visited us for their sewing machines, repairs, and supplies. For nearly 30 years, Sewing Machine Mart thrived there, becoming a familiar and beloved part of the city’s daily life. As our customer base grew, we relocated to Homewood, where we continued welcoming quilters, garment sewists, home-decor creators, embroiderers, and hobbyists for many more years. Generations learned to sew on machines purchased from our store, and many still return with the very same machines — or to select their next one.
🪡Today, we carry forward all that history in our current location, offering the same values that shaped us in 1950: craftsmanship, honesty, community, and a genuine love for helping people sew with confidence and joy.
🧵Inside our showroom, customers can explore over 40 models on display — from beginner-friendly sewing machines to advanced embroidery technology, long-arm quilting machines, and multi-needle commercial units. We are proud to be authorized dealers for three of the industry’s most respected brands: Baby Lock, Husqvarna VIKING, and PFAFF — companies known for engineering excellence, innovation, and long-lasting reliability.
But what truly sets us apart is more than machines. It is the people.
Shawn and Heidi Jackson purchased the company in 2002. Shawn was a professional firefighter for the City of Birmingham and Heidi was a customer service professional for another company. Shawn was already working as a service technician for the store part time. For Heidi, it was a great opportunity to get into something new and exciting. They have continued to grow the business with a focus on honesty and unmatched customer service. They added quilting fabric in 2023 to add to their portfolio of services offered.
⭐Our team takes time to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and match each sewist with the right machine for the work they love to do. Our in-house technicians service every make and model with precision and care — a rarity in today’s world. And through our classes, events, and creative community, we help makers of all skill levels feel supported, inspired, and connected.
