On 4-30-26 Springview Fire was dispatched to report of multiple grass fires along Highway 183 north of Springview from the five mile corner all the way to the Nebraska/South Dakota State Line! Thankfully with the rain we got last week, the road ditches were green enough none of them got to big! Would like to thank everyone who helped out and the mutual aid crews that were called for help, then later turned around! We really appreciate it!

Be prepared and be careful as we continue in the high fire danger weather.

This is what’s left behind at the station when a fire call comes in. Work boots from leaving their job. Lounge shoes from leaving their family at home. The people whose shoes are left behind aren’t just firefighters. They are husbands, wives, dads, moms, brothers, sisters, friends and neighbors. The people who drop everything when the pager goes off. The people who sacrifice their family time, birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, sleep and many other hours, to be there for complete strangers when they need us most. In the fire service, our number one goal is life safety. That includes our lives too. At the end of the call, these shoes need to be filled again. Help us help you by having and practicing your emergency evacuation plan, slowing down and paying attention when going through accidents scenes, testing your smoke alarms and following fire prevention tips. With your help, we can fill these shoes at the end of every call.

On Friday, March 27th, Springview Volunteer Fireman were Dispatched at 12:18p.m. to a grass fire north west of the Mount Hope Cemetery, just on the north side of Springview! Thankfully with quick response from our crew we were able to get the fire stopped before it reached town! We would like to thank Brown & Rock County for their mutual aid help and KBR Rural Public Power for getting the issue with the power line resolved!

Have you considered becoming involved in caring for your community?

Springview Rescue is very short handed and we are looking for individuals who are interested in becoming an EMT. If we can get enough interest, the class could possibly be held right in Springview! If you would like to join our crew, or have any questions about what all is required contact Bradee Caulfield at 402-382-5818 or Suzy Wentworth at 402-322-0332
