Tonight’s patrol game was all about teamwork, communication, and a little creativity! Using nothing but paper plates as “stepping stones,” our scouts had to work together to cross the course without touching the ground.

There was plenty of laughter, strategy, problem solving, and teamwork along the way and maybe a few wipeouts too! These simple games always turn into some of the best lessons: leadership, trust, and learning to work together under pressure.

Scouting isn’t always about campfires and knots… sometimes it’s paper plates and teamwork that make the biggest memories.

When the scouts wanna help there is no telling them no… We made a plan to use our meeting time on Tuesday to help with clean up in the community. With storm coming through that night we had to cancel those plans…
Being scouts we are limited on what we can do, basically we were limited to just picking up trash and piling up the larger materials on the edge of the street. With a plan ish we met in one of the neighborhoods hit hardest and went to work. These young people went to work with an amazing attitude and kept the banter going the entire evening. I had a goal to get this little creek area cleaned up before we went home, well the hot that done way faster than I could have imagined, so we got fresh bags and walked the entire neighborhood picking up the trash on the edge of the roads. Due to my concerns with home owners dealing with insurance adjusters we stayed out of yards and didn’t mess with anything that wasn’t trash. The entire evening was an amazing success and I’m so proud of the scouts. It’s hard to find the words how happy my heart is. In the hard times you will find the strongest leaders, they will do what ever it takes to get done with the task at hand.

Couldn’t have done any of this without the help of the adult volunteers that made this program happen. We also had an amazing person donate all of the trash bags and gloves used, I called and before I could even finish my speech about what we’re going to do he asked what I needed and supplied it with out hesitation. Thank you so much Bradley it means the world that companies like Afisco donate to an amazing cause with out hesitation.

If there is somewhere else we can help feel free to reach out through messenger, I can’t promise anything accept we will try to help out.

Thanks again to all the volunteers and scouts that make this program what it is!!!!!

Extremely Grateful Scoutmaster Timmy

From the AOL bridging ceremony to the OA callout to the 4am wake up call for less than ideal weather that led to the entire troop crashing in the nearest shelter…. Then to hanging out and enjoying camping with the Pack 303 the next day that fell into a very fun campfire program. To the realization this was the last official campfire with one of the older scouts with 303 that is turning 18 next week.. the whirl wind of weather mixed with new scouts and emotional campfires made for a very amazing weekend!!!!

Having 6 brand new scouts bridge over to the troop is exciting and getting to actually get to meet them and get to know there personalities and see where and how they are going to add to the troop is one of my favorite things about scouting. Having an OA callout after the bridging ceremony was a hit for us, the new scouts got to see something and have something to look up to on there very first campfire with the troop! Not to take away from the Scouts that got called out, there’s a reason they were called out and I’m so proud of each and every one of them. It was a late night getting all the things worked out with the excitement of the evening and the new scouts saying by to parents instead of good night. Adults finally got to attempt sleep at 12:30/1:00 ish, just to be woken some where before 4am with some gusty winds, followed by deep conversations about what the radar was showing. Decision was made based on wind and lightening to move into the shelter on location, which meant waking 26 scouts and getting them to grab a pillow and sleeping bag. With all that excitement it took another hour ish to get them back to sleep. We all survived and had a pretty amazing day afterwards, did have a lot of soaked gear though. We had an amazing campfire
program lead by CubMaster Eric, with scouts from pack and troop, and maybe some terribly awesome bad dad jokes. I then thanked Levi for the memories and campfires we shared over the years, he turns 18 in a couple of days and this was his final campout as a youth! He also got a reminder to get his eagle paperwork turned in, so he has something more than memories from his scouting experience!!

All in all it was one of my favorite campouts, and I can’t wait for the next one!!!!

This morning, a group of 26 scouts and leaders embarked on a 10.9 mile hike along Lake Mineral Wells State Trailway, connecting Cartwright Park in Weatherford to Garner. The trail's beauty was remarkable. The weather was perfect, providing ideal conditions for the hike. Scouts had to hike in their lunches. Some made ramen on the trail and some brought healthy snacks. We finished the hike with a sense of accomplishment, despite some discomfort, and left as proud leaders and parents. We look forward to another hike to complete the 20 mile trail from Garner to Mineral Wells.

COH today featured 9 Rank Advancements, 28 Merit Badges earned, and 2 Eagle Palms awarded. Additionally, we acknowledged 3 scouts and adults who attended the Spring NYLT. It's a great day for our troop.

Well, this weekend was another fantastic camp with this group… these young guys and gals are my favorite group of humans. We started the weekend with a 3 hour drive to camp, which left us setting up in complete darkness. This campout also brought a new experience for all of us, we called it The Scoutmaster Challenge Weekend. It started with the drive to camp, each of the adults were given expectations for the youth, this was to determine which patrol is the most scout like (the most scout like patrol was something kept up with all weekend). Saturday morning brought breakfast competition, where each patrol had to make an extra plate of food and it was given to the adults to judge, there was a point system for all of the activities in making breakfast, food storage, participation, playing, and taste, to list a few. With breakfast done and scores tallied up, we move into lunch with the same judging list but different judges. There was an extra kicker with lunch, expectations were a hot lunch but they weren’t allowed to use pots/pans. They all got in to the groove of things with lunch and after it was finished, scores were tallied up. After lunch there was a scout trivia competition and a physical agility test where score were calculated and recorded. All of the challenges were for a purpose, for dinner Saturday they didn’t know what they were cooking. With each challenge came the opportunity to be first to choose out of the different ingredient categories. The categories were meat/veggie/starch/extra. There was 4 different options in each category except the extra, there was 15-20 extras. With the extras came extra points, if the item could be used in their meal and it work with the dish. There was some random ingredients which lead to some random outcomes, everything was edible and everything was plated very nice for a campout. In my opinion they all won, adults included. We finished up the evening with campfire/flashlight program (burn ban in effect in that area) and and apple carmel Dutch oven cobbler. After a hard earned night of rest we had a breakfast by the scout master and Chaplin service from 3 of the scouts. It was a beautiful weekend of friendly competition with amazing young scouts, I can’t wait until the next one!!!!

P.S. I have ton more pictures I will try and get up loaded this evening!!!

I need to start this post with an apology, we had an Eagle Court of Honor for an amazing young man. I have been so busy/forgot to post on here about Sam’s court of honor. Sam came to 303 as a life scout that had been well on his way to Eagle for a long time, life gets in the way and drives your motivation down. For reasons we will never know Sam’s path crossed with 303’s and a relationship was forged. This extremely talented young man stepped into our troop like he’s been there from the beginning. He picked right back up where he had left off and plowed through the rest of the requirements to earn his eagle, with zero problems and smile on his face that the entirety of 303 have enjoyed since he first walked Into our lives. To say I’m proud or honored to have been at his side down the last leg of his Eagle Journey is an understatement of a life time. I can’t wait to see where his journey takes him, with wings of an Eagle I would bet it’s nothing short of greatness.

Normally this is where I would stop and let y’all enjoy a couple of pictures, but I received a call this afternoon from the above mentioned Eagle.
Asking if I had a couple mins I could come by his house be the had some amazing news and wanted me there to share the moment. All of my scouts know that if I’m free I will come support them in everything they do… this was one of those moments, well it was way more. Sam is a part of THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST of LATTER-DAY SAINTS, and he decided to serve a mission and he found out tonight which mission he will be serving at. It was such an amazing experience for me, and I was honored to be there. This young man will be serving a Mission in Montana, I know he will be a huge help to them, I just hope they’re prepared for such an accomplished young man.

Sam go conquer the world, just remember to enjoy every moment you can and spread as much happiness and jou as you can. Also keep us updated and send as many pictures/stories as you can.
