We are at an important crossroads for the PTA Clothing Bank. The need continues to grow every year -- in fact, we are serving more students and families than ever before. Many of our PTAs already support this work through underwear and sock drives, volunteers, and advocacy, and we are so grateful.
At the same time, our current model is becoming increasingly difficult to sustain.
For the past seven years, Taryn Raidel has faithfully led the Clothing Bank with incredible dedication and countless volunteer hours. She has carried an enormous amount of responsibility and institutional knowledge while helping provide clothing, shoes, and dignity to thousands of Springfield students. As her daughter graduates and after years of service, Taryn is ready to transition leadership.
Meanwhile, our volunteer base has become stretched thin, the operational needs continue to increase, and the financial resources needed to sustain and grow the Clothing Bank are greater than our current systems can support. The need is no longer small enough to be maintained by a handful of people simply working harder.
Because of this, we urgently need additional leadership, volunteers, fundraising support, and new systems that will allow the Clothing Bank to remain sustainable long-term.
All please contact our SCPTA President at [email protected] to indicate your interest in this volunteer role.
