Our friends at Meals from the Heartland recently toured the Convoy of Hope feeding center where their meals are being served as part of our programming.

“Seeing our meals in action in El Salvador was eye-opening and reinforced how important our mission is to helping children and families take the next step toward a healthier and brighter future,” said Dani Rieck, marketing manager at Meals from the Heartland.

As the school year ends and many kids eagerly anticipate summer break, families that rely on free and reduced-price school meals know that summer, for them, means hunger.

At the same time, there are young girls who are relieved for an extended break because it means they won’t have to miss school — and risk falling behind — due to a lack of access to feminine hygiene supplies.

"I was hungry in my body and in my mind. And people like Convoy of Hope came along and fed me.” 🥣

As a child, Chege faced deep loss and hardship, including the loss of his mother. But through Convoy's Children’s Feeding program in Kenya, he received more than meals — he found the energy and encouragement to keep going.

Chege pursued his education and graduated from college. Today, he’s returned to where his story began, tutoring students at the same school.

Chege is continuing the impact that once changed his life.
