Hi everyone. I need to cancel my events today, 8/31 at my home in Springfield. I am incredibly sorry. I hate rescheduling and I have lots of material to distribute, but I feel at an event yesterday and I think I really hurt myself.

I am so SORRY!! I will reschedule. Please pass on the cancellation information! I don’t want anyone to show and I’m not ready.

If anyone would be available tomorrow to help me set up for my Teacher/Homeschooler sessions tomorrow 8/31 anytime between 11-2, I would be INCREDIBLY grateful. I have lots of teaching and homeschooling supplies I want to help donate locally, I just don’t know if I can get it all done myself.

I had planned on getting things ready today, but after a nasty fall and then an incredibly close call in an accident while driving… I did not prepare like I was planning to do and now that adrenaline (and wine) have worn off, I’m just sore, exhausted, and did I mention sore???

If available, please pm me. I’m planning on having two sessions tomorrow, at my home in Springfield from 2:30-4:30 and 5:30-8:30.

I honestly don't have the words to express how saddened I am about Dolly's passing. She was an inspiration from my earliest years, when I would listen to her music with my Grandmother. As I'm not much of a music fan, for me to remember those memories so distinctly says something important.

Then, as a high school student, I remember her starting her library and thinking, "I want to do that when I'm older."

It took me a long time, but Luci's Mobile Free Library was absolutely inspired by her. I love that she never asked for income verification or about anyone's political affiliations; she just BELIEVED that reading is fundamental and that every child deserves access to books.

I haven't been able to afford to bring Dolly's Library to my county, but I am doing everything I can to live up to her vision. I've given out an estimated 17,000 books since October and will continue doing everything I can to help to continue the fight for literacy and equal access to literature. She was my biggest hero, and I'll always be grateful to her. 💔💔💔

I’m trying to reach out and ask if any book lovers would like to earn some volunteer hours, specifically helping me this weekend or even at any future library events? 📚📚📚

My name is Lucinda Pierce and I believe in the power of a book. I know that the right book at the right time can shape (and shake up) your whole world. The best books make you see the world and it’s people in brand new ways.

I also know that not everyone has the same access to the resources that many of us take for granted. So, I started Luci's Mobile Free Library with idea that everyone should have fun and engaging books. ❤️

So how can you help??

1) I need any book donations, particularly of Graphic Novels, that you might be willing to part with. I simply cannot keep up with all the requests for Dog Man and others Graphic novels. 😂😂

2) Also, I know a graduation requirement is the completion of volunteer hours at Virginia High Schools. Let me help! I am a registered 501(3)c and am an expert in certifying volunteer hours. I also need volunteers for all sorts of job, from organizing, being a librarian for a day, photography, social media - anything!! I would love the help!

I will be busy all week preparing for this event next Saturday, 8/29/26 at Springfield TownCenter. I will be there from 11 -5 with FREE BOOKS for children and adults.

If you are already busy this weekend, don’t worry! I have events ALL YEAR LONG and I always need help!!

My latest event today with Luci's Mobile Free Library at NOVA Church
in Falls Church was a great success. Nova Church

I’m unsure exactly how many books we were able to donate, but I’m guessing somewhere between 700-1000 books! I ran out of books for several age groups, even after my lovely husband brought me a 2nd car full!!

There were so many sweet and lovely kids and families. I loved seeing the passion for literature, in kids and their families. One of my favorite things is when a parent finds a loved book from THEIR childhood and get excited about sharing it with their own children. Things like Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Shel Silverstein to name a few! I COMPLETELY ran out of graphic novels, in particular DogMan. I don’t think I can ever pack enough of these!!

Thank you again Nova Church for inviting me to your back to school event!! Hopefully, I’ll have more pictures to add soon.
