In celebration of Urban Agriculture Week (August 9-15), Wellspring will be giving a tour of the Wellspring Harvest Greenhouse on Wednesday, August 12, from 10-11 a.m. at 121 Pinevale Street, Springfield (Indian Orchard), MA

The tour will consist of:
A tour of the hydroponic greenhouse growing lettuce and herbs for commercial and institutional markets
Taste our latest value added products-basil ginger lemonade and pesto
Learn about our worker cooperative providing jobs in the Indian Orchard Neighborhood

On Saturday, July 26, Wellspring Cooperative, Neighbor-to-Neighbor and the New Era Young Lords hosted another community meal for the people of the Holyoke community. There was also an education and solidarity moment for the community as that day also marked the significance of July 26 of the Cuban revolution. There was also solidarity for the people of Puerto Rico and Venezuela who share similar challenges towards their fight for liberation.

It was an overall good time and one member of the community shared, “we should do this more often, I like connecting with people from my community instead of being so isolated from everyone.”

The goal is to continue doing these events and create spaces rooted in politicized direct services, connection, dignity, and collective care. Spaces where our neighbors and our families can access resources, build relationships, share knowledge, and feel supported.

El sábado 26 de julio, Wellspring Cooperative, Neighbor-to-Neighbor y New Era Young Lords organizaron otra comida comunitaria para los habitantes de Holyoke. También hubo un momento de educación y solidaridad para la comunidad, ya que esa fecha conmemora el significado del 26 de julio en la Revolución Cubana. Asimismo, se expresó solidaridad con los pueblos de Puerto Rico y Venezuela, que comparten desafíos similares en su lucha por la liberación.

Fue una experiencia muy grata en general; un miembro de la comunidad comentó: «Deberíamos hacer esto más a menudo; me gusta conectar con la gente de mi comunidad en lugar de estar tan aislada de todos».

El objetivo es seguir organizando estos eventos y crear espacios fundamentados en servicios directos con enfoque político, la conexión, la dignidad y el cuidado colectivo. Espacios donde nuestros vecinos y familias puedan acceder a recursos, establecer vínculos, compartir conocimientos y sentirse apoyados.

Wellspring will host a cookout on Saturday, September 19 at Forest Park, Springfield at noon. The event will be a time of camaraderie and celebration for all the work we all do. On June 20, the IOCC Youth Council planted fruit trees and shrubs at Wellspring Harvest Co-op greenhouse in Indian Orchard. This week, they came back for the first week of watering.

It's important to water new trees weekly in the first year to make sure they stay healthy and grow.

El 20 de junio, el IOCC Youth Council plantó árboles y arbustos frutales en el invernadero Wellspring Harvest Co-op en Indian Orchard.

Esta semana han vuelto para la primera semana de riego. Es importante regar los árboles nuevos semanalmente durante el primer año para asegurarse de que se mantengan sanos y crezcan.
