People who help others need their own brand and level of support

Hope for Helpers is a growing group of professionals who come together twice a month in order to enjoy the benefit of peer support, collegial interaction, topic discussions and collaborative engagement with other members of our field. We are not a professional organization, we have no affiliation, no charter, no mandates, no special creeds and we organize under no particular model. We only seek camaraderie, interaction, support and perhaps a little enlightenment from peers. Members come from the Psychology/psycho-therapeutic field, Social Work, Substance Abuse/Recovery Field, Medical, Ministry, Caseworker/Case Management - this group is not intended for their clients.

Counselors, addictions specialists, therapists, pastors, social workers, even doctors and nurses all need to realize when compassion fatigue or burn-out is creeping into their consciousness - if left unchecked it starts to erode their attitude on a daily, if not hourly basis. What is needed more than anything is a little dialogue with somebody like-minded from the same field, or similar field, as you work in. This group wants to support such a possibility. Drop in on any 1st or 3rd Saturday and see for yourself.

We meet at noon the first Saturday for one hour at 2800 Montvale Dr., Springfield - Prevention First/Ounce of Prevention Fund building. Then the third Saturday at the Panera restaurant on White Oaks Drive, also at noon.
