FosterAdopt Connect Springfield

FosterAdopt Connect Springfield Many felt isolated and ill-equipped to provide the most loving care for kids who experienced abuse and neglect.

Our mission is to provide advocacy and innovative programming which supports and empowers foster children, their families, and alumni impacted by the child welfare system In 1998, a group of dedicated foster parents recognized a need for stronger support, training, and companionship as they pursued the difficult and rewarding work of parenting children from the foster care system. As more and more

families were drawn to the care and advocacy offered, this support system quickly matured into FosterAdopt Connect (formerly Midwest Foster Care and Adoption Association), which was incorporated in 2000 as a 501c3 nonprofit social service organization. Rapid growth fueled by the needs of youth who age out of foster care, and foster and adopted children and families, have expanded the geographic reach and depth of the innovative programs and services offered. Yet at its core, FosterAdopt Connect maintains an “in the trenches with you” approach to serving kids and families. Every kid deserves a childhood free of abuse and neglect within a family that offers love, stability, safety. FosterAdopt Connect actively monitors the changing needs of foster and adopted children and families within the community to identify gaps in available services. To fill these gaps, we search nationally and internationally for best practices to implement, and if none are available, we create innovative solutions to improve outcomes for the children and families we serve. We recruit, support, and retain high-level, quality foster and adoptive homes for kids through training and direct services. We believe strongly in the value of children placed in families and work to recruit and equip foster and adoptive families. We believe in the power of advocacy and use our voices at the local, state, and national level to create positive change for child welfare. We implement programs that specifically respond to the needs of the most at-risk children in the foster care community.

Memorial Day is far more than the unofficial start of summer—it's a day to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. The freedom they fought for is the life we get to live every day.

All of our FAC branches are closed today in observance of Memorial Day. We will return to normal business hours tomorrow, Tuesday May 26th.

It’s been a great week welcoming volunteer groups through our doors! In just a short amount of time, they accomplished so much. Thanks to their hard work, we’re stocked up on food boxes, socks and underwear, and period kits for at least the next couple of weeks.

A huge thank-you to Misty and her GoCaps high school students, as well as Kim and the Convoy of Hope team for bringing us another amazing group of Evangel University students!

Do you have a group that is looking for volunteer opportunities this summer? Or are you someone with extra time who wants to give back in a meaningful way? We would LOVE to have you! Email [email protected] to get more information!

Last week, the President and Vice President of the Family Nurse Practitioner Student Association at MSU stopped by to drop off donations from their annual service project drive. Sarah and Heather also toured our facility and got to see Sammy's Window in person. We were excited to hear they want to bring their group back and volunteer with us!
Thank you both for supporting the work we do and getting your team involved in our mission as well! These donations go straight to the families we serve. We look forward to partnering with you in the future!

✨Advisory Council Spotlight ✨
MEET Dr. Alison Roffers

We are so excited to highlight one of our 2026 Advisory Council members, Dr. Alison Roffers. Dr. Roffers is the Director of Counseling Services and the District Foster Care and Child Welfare Liaison with Springfield Public Schools, Springfield, MO and is in her 6th year of service at FAC. Thank you, Dr. Roffers, for your service and commitment to the youth and families we serve!

Learn More from Dr. Roffers herself:
Serving as the Director of Counseling Services for Springfield Public Schools has given me a front-row seat to the realities many children and families face, especially those impacted by foster care. Through my role as a liaison to Children’s Division, behavioral health partners, and foster care systems, I regularly work alongside students, families, and caseworkers to ensure children entering care are supported both in school and beyond. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the gaps that exist and the critical importance of strong, connected support systems.

Outside of work, my husband and I are raising three children in SPS, including my middle child who has FOXG1 Syndrome and receives extensive support and therapies through the district. My personal experience as a parent navigating complex needs within the school system has strengthened my belief in the power of collaboration, advocacy, and wraparound services. I see public schools as the hub of the community, uniquely positioned to connect families to the resources they need to thrive.

Because of both my professional perspective and personal experiences, I am deeply passionate about the mission of FosterAdopt Connect. Serving on the advisory council is a meaningful opportunity for me to help strengthen supports for children and families, elevate community connections, and advocate for systems that truly meet the needs of those impacted by foster care.
