π Our work doesn't stop at the shelter doors.
Last night, six members of our Helping Hands team, including our Executive Director and Shelter Director, joined Heartland HOUSED for an evening of street outreach in our community.
Ending homelessness requires more than providing a bed for the night. It requires meeting people where they are, building trust, understanding their barriers, and helping create pathways toward stability and permanent housing.
Street outreach is an important reminder that not everyone experiencing homelessness is able or ready to walk through our doors. Sometimes, we have to be the ones to take that first step toward them.
We are proud of our staff for stepping outside their everyday roles and into the community, and we are grateful to Heartland HOUSED for the opportunity to work alongside them.
Because helping hands don't just wait for someone to reach out. We reach out, too. π
