Storm drains discharge rain water to local streams and rivers and require regular maintenance to remove contaminants and prevent flooding. Lane County coordinates the Stormdrain Cleaning Assistance Program (SCAP) in partnership with Stormwater Protection Systems to help area businesses maintain their parking lot drains at a discounted price.

Businesses are responsible for maintaining storm drains on their property. It is best to clean out catch basins at least once per year and replace oil-absorbing media annually. SCAP can help your business:

πŸ’Έ Save! Discounted rate of $70 per drain for professional cleaning of a parking lot standard basin

πŸ’§ Prevent parking lot flooding and reduce water pollution

πŸ“ Automatically submit storm drain maintenance records

At the end of this month our Executive Director, Dov Weinman, will be moving on from the Council to an exciting new role with the Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission, a partner of MFWWC.

Dov joined the Council in March 2021 during the pandemic, beginning his tenure at a time when the organization, like many others, was operating remotely and adapting to a rapidly changing world. Over the past five years, he has helped guide the Council through a period of steady growth and renewed momentum. During this time, the organization expanded its staff and programs, nearly tripled its operating budget, and strengthened its institutional resilience. During Dov’s years of dedicated leadership, the Council has grown significantly in its capacity to lead restoration, education, and partnership-building across the watershed.

Middle Fork Staff and our Board of Directors extend our deep appreciation for Dov’s service and we wish him all the best in this next chapter! We are glad that he will continue contributing his exceptional skills in service to our broader community.

CFWWC is now taking applications for this summer's Youth Conservation Crew (YCC)!
The application window closes on March 31st, so get those applications in soon.

The Coast Fork Willamette Watershed Council (CFWWC), a nonprofit organization based in Cottage Grove, Oregon, founded their Youth Conservation Crew (YCC) in 2018 to provide local youth with on-the-job training alongside natural resource professionals. The YCC fosters growth in the workforce for individuals interested in our natural resources and looking for a progressive work experience. Crew members work alongside natural resource professionals from regional, state, and federal organizations. Activities include: trail building & maintenance, wildlife habitat restoration, plant & animal identification, erosion mitigation, fire lines & fuel reduction, invasive species removal, seed collection & propagation, monitoring & surveying, and diversity, equity, & inclusion training. Full and part time positions are available.
This opportunity is open to individuals ages 16-20. $17/hour. More information and how to apply at www.coastfork.org/youth-conservation-crew.
