The August 31 deadline for the Partners in Policymaking applications is quickly approaching!

Partners in Policymaking is a leadership series hosted by Disability Rights Oregon that starts in September. The program is designed for parents of children with intellectual or developmental disabilities and adults with developmental disabilities who want to strengthen their leadership skills and become effective advocates. Participants will learn how to build productive relationships with elected officials and policymakers to help create positive change at the local, state, and federal levels.

If you're interested in becoming a stronger advocate for the disability community, now is a great time to apply. Learn more about the program by reading the Partners in Policymaking Informational Brochure, and submit your application online before the September classes begin.

Moving from Pediatric to Adult Health Care

Is your teen or young adult getting ready to make the transition from pediatric to adult health care? Join The Arc Lane County on August 19 for a helpful training designed to make this transition easier for families!

The training will be hosted by The Arc and facilitated by the OHSU Oregon Family to Family Health Information Center. Learn practical strategies for preparing for the transition, navigating adult health care systems, supporting self-advocacy, and helping your young person take a more active role in their health care.
