Altrusa Club of Springfield

Altrusa Club of Springfield Altrusa is a non-profit organization of business and professional women who have a passion for literacy. She remained a member of Altrusa for over 50 years.

Altrusa International is the oldest women's service organization in the nation, founded in 1917. The Springfield club has been serving our community for more than eighty years, since our founding in 1921. Altrusa clubs exist in all parts of the United States and numerous other countries. Despite issues of international concern, Altrusa is, first and foremost, a community-based, grassroots organiza

tion that seeks to solve the problems in our own backyard. The first President of our club was a distinguished Springfield leader, Margaret Baker, President and CEO of The Champion Co., a remarkable achievement for a woman in the 1920's. Altrusa International of Springfield meets monthly and welcomes new members who want to enjoy club events and the camaraderie of working for worthwhile causes. For more information about Altrusa and to participate in the Literacy Sting in September 2022 or purchase tickets to the event, please call Linda Howell at 937-525-9899.
