United Way of Lane County From advancing community well-being and youth opportunity to strengthening local resilience, United Way mobilizes communities to action so all can thrive.

We know that our communities’ greatest challenges – like financial instability, child care access, academic struggles, and workforce challenges, are deeply interconnected. So our role is to bring people and resources together to address them. Through cross-sector convening and strategy, fundraising and grantmaking, nonprofit capacity building, and volunteerism, we’re strengthening our communities’ ability to tackle challenges and ultimately improve outcomes for kids and families. We take a comprehensive, collaborative approach, actively listening and responding to local needs. To counter the disparate outcomes communities face within race/ethnicity, geography, income, and more, we actively work to dismantle barriers so everyone has equitable access and opportunity to thrive. Every day, our communities show that when people unite to take action, change is possible. Together, we're creating a future where everyone, everywhere can reach their full potential.

We are thrilled to announce that our local Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Lane County has expanded!

Imagination Library of Lane County – hosted by United Way of Lane County – now serves most communities in Lane County, making it even easier for local families to register their child or children to receive FREE books from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library each month. Every month, Imagination Library of Lane County sends free books to over 8,000 children across Lane County!

Until recently, there were five local organizations coordinating Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library for families in Eugene, Springfield, and rural communities, including Eugene Public Library Foundation, Springfield Young Readers, and United Way of Lane County, in partnership with the Early Childhood Hub of Lane County. Now, Imagination Library of Lane County coordinates and expands access to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library for most towns and cities across our county, including Eugene, Springfield, and 25 rural communities. This makes it even easier for local families to keep books coming to their homes, wherever they live in Lane County!
