Time is running out to register for the IMA Environment & Energy Conference on Tuesday, October 20, at the Tinley Park Convention Center. State and federal officials, environmental and energy regulators, legal experts and industry leaders will share the latest developments affecting Illinois manufacturers. The IMA was proud to recently present Lemfco, Inc., a family-operated gray iron foundry based in Galena, with an ETIP grant. It was great to be joined by Lemfco President Desiree Einsweller, and we send our congratulations to the entire team!

The Employer Training Investment Program (ETIP) is administered by the IMA and funded through a grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO). It helps Illinois manufacturers build a workforce with the skills needed for long-term growth and success.

Lemfco, Inc. is one of the premier cast iron foundries in the USA, specializing in small to medium runs of gray iron castings for all industries, including natural gas, petroleum, agriculture, automotive, exercise, food processing, hydraulics and even decorative cast iron.

Today, the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association and M&M Quality Grinding celebrated five scholarship recipients: Nia Autam, Emma Valencia, Grady Jones, Makensie Hanus, and Ruth Tilahun, honoring the remarkable women whose leadership inspired these awards.

From the Janice Christiansen and Lynne Mohr Scholarships to the Mama Susie Scholarship for Advancing Immigrant Women in Manufacturing, these awards recognize the power of investing in future leaders and expanding opportunities across our industry.

The event brought together manufacturers for a fireside chat with IMA President & CEO Mark Denzler, Manufacturing Advocate and Industry Ally Miles Free, Sr. VP of Business Development for the Illinois EDC Paulina San Milan, and Director of Innovation at Northern Illinois University Heather Penczak, on the importance of investing in the next generation of manufacturing talent. The fireside chat was moderated by the IMA Sr. VP & Corporate Board Secretary, Sarah Hartwick.

Before the panel took the stage, M&M Quality Grinding and Pioneer Service Inc gave attendees a tour of their amazing facility! Thank you to IMA Board Member Aneesa Muthana for leading the charge on Forged in Illinois event and for hosting today's event.

Tuesday, the Illinois Manufacturing Caucus visited Azteca Foods to see firsthand the innovation, operations, and people behind Illinois food manufacturing. Founded in Chicago in 1970, Azteca Foods has grown from a local business into a national manufacturer of tortillas and other Mexican food products. Led by President Renee Togher, who served as Chair of the IMA’s Board of Directors from 2024-2025, the family-owned and woman-led company operates a 125,000-square-foot manufacturing facility and continues to build on its legacy of innovation.

Thank you to Renee and the Azteca team for welcoming Senator Cristina Castro, State Representative Angelica Guerrero-Cuellar, State Senator Li Arellano, Jr, and IMA's Director of Government Relations, Gabriela Garza to showcase the important role manufacturers play in supporting our state’s economy and creating jobs.

Executive VP & Chief Strategy Officer Donovan Griffth represented the Illinois Manufacturers'​ Association on October 5th, in celebrating Phillips 66, United Airlines, Microsoft, and Illinois’ continued leadership in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The agreement celebrated bringing up to 11 million gallons of SAF to United Airlines through Phillips 66’s Wood River facility, demonstrating how industry collaboration is turning innovation into real business in Illinois.

lllinois is a leader in SAF, having helped set the stage by becoming the first state in the nation to establish a SAF tax credit. That sent a clear message: Illinois welcomes investment, supports innovation, and embraces the economic opportunities these fuels offer.

The IMA has proudly supported that momentum by hosting two SAF conferences attended by hundreds of participants, including Governor JB Pritzker and members of his administration. Their support for SAF’s environmental benefits and economic potential is now bearing fruit.

The IMA is honored to celebrate this important business agreement with Governor JB Pritzker, Representatives State Rep. Jay Hoffman, State Rep. Katie Stuart, State Representative Amy Elik, and Senator Erica Harriss.

Illinois' Advancing Innovative Manufacturing (AIM Illinois) tax credit provides a credit against corporate income tax tied to capital investments of at least $10 million over five years. Eligible companies include, but are not limited to, clean energy, life sciences, food manufacturing, automotive and aerospace, machinery, fabricated metal, chemical manufacturing, robotics and advanced materials manufacturing.
