Each day in the United States we lose approximately 17 veterans and 1 active-duty service member to su***de. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) indicates that the Veteran su***de rate in Tennessee is significantly higher than the national Veteran su***de rate.

As a community, we can do better to support the mental health of the men and women who faithfully serve (or have served) our country. One way we can do better is to learn the signs and symptoms that may indicate our loved one may be experiencing a mental health and/or substance use challenge and then connect that loved one to the appropriate professional help.

Mental Health First Aid for Military, Veterans, and Their Families is a training that can help the following populations:
(1) active service members who want to know how to better support their comrades
(2) veterans who want to know how to better support their fellow veterans
(3) family members of active service members and/or veterans who want to know how to better support their loved one

Mighty Oak is extremely thankful for the generosity of community members in Robertson County that have donated so that Mighty Oak can now offer this specific Military, Veterans, and Their Families module of Mental Health First Aid here in Robertson County for FREE. Thank you for helping us better serve this amazing population who has already given so much to its community.

Reach out if you would like Mighty Oak to bring this training to your organization.

On this National Day of Prayer, Mighty Oak wanted to highlight the mental health benefits that research often associates with prayer. Prayer has been found to be associated with decreased stress, decreased depression, decreased anxiety, and an increased sense of hope....and hope is one of the most powerful protective factors for good mental health.

So on this National Day of Prayer, find a quiet place to be alone with God and spend some time in prayer. You are not alone. He is with you always (Matthew 28:20).
