Back in June, a group of London High School Red Raider football players showed up to help the United Way of Clark, Champaign, and Madison Counties load in and set up for Dolly, Denim and Diamonds at Choctaw Lake. That night raised $30,000 for literacy right here in Madison County. That's enough to provide monthly books to 1,000 Madison County kids under the age of five for an entire year through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.

Senior Bryce Hawkins went above and beyond. After the event wrapped up, he came back on his own and spent a good chunk of time helping tear everything down.

Tonight at the contest with Tecumseh Local Schools United Way Executive Director, Chad Wilson along with London High School Director of Athletics- Jacob Cullen, took to the field to recognize student athletes- Bryce Hawkins, Vance Morch, and Noah Ernst as the United Way presented a check for $250 to London Red Raider Athletic Department in thanks for their efforts.

We had an inspiring day at Social Services 101. We helped convene social workers, teachers, pastors, nurses, mental healthcare workers, parents and more to learn about the local services available to children, families and adults across our community, including health care, mental health care and support for people with special needs. These are the dedicated people running the organizations who show up every day our children and families.

Social Services 101 is all about learning from one another to know where to recommend a child or family in need. Attendees heard from the providers doing the work and found out how to make connections they can call on the next time someone in their lane needs help. We also worked with our 211 partners so local agencies could make sure their listings are up to date, which helps people find the right help faster.

A big thank you to Gina Burke with Clark County Family and Children First, Holly Brennan, our Director of Community Impact and Engagement, Faith Bosland with the Community Health Foundation, and our amazing planning committee- Abby Easton, Abbey Glaser, Carlisa Parker, Leah Beller, and Samantha King. This impactful event wouldn't happen without you.

Shout out to Jason King with Champaign County FCFC, Deetra Huntington with Madison County FCFC for coming to observe and take notes. Also thank you to Royal and Zach from Clark State for being such great partners in this work. As always, the freshly anointed- Best of Springfield Caterers- Carmae Catering brought amazing breakfast and refreshments.

If you or someone you know needs help, call 211. If your agency isn’t listed yet, reach out to us and we’ll help you get added.

We were proud to convene a meeting of partners to welcome Groundwork Ohio to Springfield as part of their Roadshow 2026, a statewide listening tour visiting all 33 Ohio Senate districts. Their mission is to champion high-quality early learning and healthy development strategies from the prenatal period to age five, that lay a strong foundation for Ohio kids, families, and communities- with a vision to make Ohio the best place to be a young child so that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Research and science prove that early childhood provides a unique window of opportunity to ensure a strong start to life - making the first years the best time to invest. When children’s experiences and environments are safe, stable, and nurturing from their earliest days, they have a strong foundation that sets them on the course for success.

As a nonpartisan advocacy organization dedicated to the needs of young children and families, Groundwork Ohio knows that strong systems provide the foundation for long-term sustainable change. Every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and reach their full potential, but not all children have access to the same interventions and early childhood support.

Special thanks to Wittenberg University's Tiger Ventures- Sips Coffee Bar for providing pastries for the group. With ,
