In August 2024, BSA Troop 1347B Eagle Scout Scott Heilig-Roby was selected for the Order of the Arrow Vigil honors. He completed his Vigil in August at Goshen Scout Reserve. Though allowed to wear his OA Vigil sash, he was asked not to post anything until after it was formally announced at the OA Lodge banquet on 1/4/2025. It is official now, Scott has received the OA Vigil honors. Congratulatuons to Scott!!! Scott is thankful for the many Scout Leaders he has had during his journey, which enabled him to become the young man he is today! Today, 7 Scouts left for Triop 1347B's ski trip, led by Scoutmaster Chad Jones and Assistant Scoutmaster Chad Jones. After driving to the winter sports resort, the Scouts went Tubing before heading to their rental house. Tomorrow, they will ski and snowboard. And Sunday, they plan to sled before driving back home.

In December, Troop 1347B hosted their final Court of Honor for 2024. Several Scouts ranked up....and pinned their parent...

In December, Troop 1347B hosted their final Court of Honor for 2024. Several Scouts ranked up....and pinned their parents! Several Scouts earned Merit Badges! Several Scouts earned Awards. Scoutmaster Brett Coffee was awarded.the Scoutmaster Key Award for the amazing service and dedication he gave the Scouts in the Troop! After serving for 3 years as Scoutmaster, Mr. Coffee handed the reigns over to new Scoutmaster Chad Jones. Our new Committee Chair is Greg Spinner. Congratulations to all of the Scouts on their accomplishments and advancements! Congratulations to Brett Coffee on his Award! And best of luck to Scoutmaster Chad Jones and Committee Chair Greg Spinnet!

For the past two Saturdays, Scouts from Troop 1347B performed service to the community by participating in Scouting For Food. On Saturday, 11/2/24, Scouts delivered 750 stickers to homes within our community advising of the Scouting For Food food drive. On Saturday, 11/9/24, Scouts went to the homes throughout the community collecting several carloads of food to be donated to the Capital Area Food Bank. Thank-you to the Scouts who supported this effort: Sam Yurgil, Greg Spinner, Connor Jones, Caiden Jones, Caden Coffee, Ely Gabran, Edwin Gabran, Harrison Shaw, and Henry Shaw. Several members of the Order of the Arrow also helped out with the OA sorting of the donated goods at the drop-off site. OA member Scott Heilig-Roby joined OA members Gregory Spinner, Caden Coffee, and Connor Jones who were assisting at the drop-off point. Scoutmaster Brett Coffee and Assistant Scoutmaster Chad Jones, as well as several other adult leaders, assisted in the eforts. The Scouting For Food effort collected and processed one-and-a-half truck loads of food for the Capital Area Food Bank.

Congratulations to Troop 1347G's newest Eagle Scouts Maria Reid and Ayla Martinez!!! Both Maria and Ayla were there when Troop 1347G was formed by the Troop 1347B Committee and parents to encourage their daughters to learn the many incredible things, including leadership, that Scouts BSA has to offer. Maria and Ayla are both amazing young ladies with bright futures. Congratulations Ayla & Maria!!! May you both soar high through life!!!

Tuesday, September 24th, Troop 1347B held it's quarterly Court of Honor. Victor Smith did an outstanding job as the Master of Ceremonies. Several Scouts earned Merit Badges. Roger Camano Vergara earned Scout rank. Zach Arnold earned Star rank. Caden Coffee earned the National Outdoor Achievement Award for Camping
Scott Heilig-Roby earned the National Outdoor Medal, as well as the National Outdoor Achievement Award for Camping (silver device), the National Outdoor Achievement Award for Aquatics (silver device), and six gold devices for Aquatics and Conservation. Cafen Coffee and Scott Heilig-Roby earned the Presedential Voluntary Service Gold Medal for their service to the Community. Great work Scouts!!! We are very proud of your accomplishments!!! Assistant Scoutmaster Chad Jones earned and was presented the Scouter Training Award and knot. Congratulations to Mr. Jones!!!

This weekend Troop 1347B, led by Assistant Scoutmasters Greg Collins and Nick Smith, went on a preparatory backpacking trip. They hiked 4 miles from BUMC, with their gear, to Burke Lake Park, set up camp, and had a great time. They used a variety of backpacking stoves to make their meals. And they played games, and had a campfire. In the morning, they made breakfast and packed.their gear. After conducting a "leave no trace" sweep of the campsite for trash and any possibly forgotten gear, they hiked back to BUMC. Great job, Scouts!!!
