Happy Digital Inclusion Week!!

Join the Massachusetts Digital Navigator's Alliance (Mass DNA), a project of the Alliance for Digital Equity, for the kickoff ot the Mass DN Learning Community of Practice on Wednesday, October 22nd at 11 am. This month's topic is Mass Health Eligibility, led by our partners at Vinfen Behavioral Health.

This community was co-designed by Digital Navigators' network-weaving sessions at the first statewide DN conference this spring, and topics, speakers and facilitators will be determined monthly by those who join the calls.

Thank you to Vinefen's Jessie Wolfe and Lasharie Weems, who are co-leading and co-designing this event with any digital navigator in Mass who wants to learn and/or share strategies and mutual aid.

What is a Learning Community of Practice?
A learning community of practice is a group of people who share common goals and collaborate regularly to enhance their learning and skills through shared experiences and knowledge. This concept emphasizes social learning, where members actively participate and influence each other's growth within the community

URGENT Digital Navigator ADVOCACY ALERT: Please take a moment to email and call your State Senator today!

Senator Adam Gomez has filed Amendment #242 to the Senate Economic Development Bill (S.3178) to establish the Digital Navigation Commission and the Digital Navigation Workforce Development Fund.

If you have a few minutes TODAY OR TOMORROW (any time before Wednesday morning at 10 am), please call or email your State Senator and ask them to support Amendment #242 of the Senate bill #3178, which is the bill for economic development.

Why is this important?
• Massachusetts already has a digital navigator workforce. (aka "Like social workers for Technology!"). More than 200 Digital Navigators are serving residents across the Commonwealth. This amendment strengthens and supports this workforce, helping our communities adapt to a world where everything has moved online.

• We need this to be passed now so we can build a future for digital opportunity programs in MA. As federal digital equity funding winds down, Massachusetts has an opportunity to preserve and grow this workforce instead of losing the expertise and network of digital navigators we've built.

• This will help us create a long-term plan and the potential for future funding for Digital Navigators in Massachusetts and beyond. The Commission will develop recommendations for credentialing, workforce standards, career pathways, and sustainable funding so Digital Navigators can continue supporting healthcare, workforce development, AI readiness, education, and economic opportunity.

Please let us know if you were able to reach your State Senator (or call on behalf of your clients and residents within your area of services. Tell them why the work you and/or digital navigators do matters in their community and district!

This month we observed National Digital Includion Week with a standout at Way Finders on Tues., Oct 7. Members of the Connect Hampden County Coalituon and the Alliance for Digital Equity made signs and asked passersby to “honk” if they support digital access for all!!
