The class centers on providing guests with firsthand views and descriptions of astronomical objects. The tour is designed for a small number of participants and offers a curated list of celestial targets based on that particular evening.
Guests will receive detailed descriptions of a variety of objects, ample opportunities to view them through a telescope, and time to ask questions throughout the experience.
It will begin by outlining some of the more well-known constellations and asterisms. Guests then have the opportunity to observe a variety of objects within those constellations. Depending on the night, they may view double stars, star clusters, nebulae, galaxies, and planets. Participants will learn key facts about each object and their significance to astronomers and cosmologists.
As the evening progresses, we will also discuss light pollution and the dark-sky preservation efforts of Finley Farms and the City of Ozark.
