The Department of War is seeking input from businesses across the defense industrial base to help shape the future of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) program.

Following the suspension of CMMC Phase II on July 13, the Department launched a 60-day review and is inviting industry feedback through an official Request for Information (RFI) on SAM.gov.

Share your feedback to help shape a practical, scalable cybersecurity approach that strengthens national security and the defense marketplace while reducing unnecessary burden.

While the review is underway, cybersecurity requirements remain in effect. Companies should continue implementing NIST SP 800-171 Rev. 2 security controls, complying with applicable DFARS requirements, and completing required Phase I self-assessments.

Oregon’s wildfire season has taken a frightening turn.

More than 415,000 acres are now actively burning across the state, already surpassing the total acreage burned during all of 2025.

Fire officials reported 26 large fires burning in Oregon as of Monday evening. Several incidents grew rapidly over the weekend as hot, dry conditions helped push flames across thousands of acres. The Hay Creek Complex has now exceeded 100,000 acres, while the Rowe Creek Complex is approaching 143,000 acres.

Central Oregon is seeing much of the current fire activity, but crews are responding to major incidents across multiple parts of the state. Thousands of residents remain under evacuation notices, and firefighting resources are being stretched thin as new fires continue to emerge.

Officials say roughly 8,000 lightning strikes over the past several days helped ignite many of the fires now burning.

For comparison, about 338,551 acres burned in Oregon during all of last year.

Once again, Oregon families are packing bags, watching the wind, checking evacuation maps, and waiting for updates. Please take every evacuation notice seriously, stay informed through local emergency officials, and do not wait until the last minute to leave.

Our thoughts are with everyone in the path of these fires and with the crews working around the clock to protect Oregon communities.

To ensure cybersecurity requirements strengthen—not restrict—the defense industrial base, yesterday the Department of War took action to reduce unnecessary barriers while maintaining critical protections.

The DoW Chief Information Officer and Under Secretary of War for Acquisition & Sustainment announced the suspension of CMMC Phase II requirements and launched a comprehensive review to identify scalable, resilient cybersecurity solutions aligned with the Department’s Acquisition Transformation Strategy priorities.

By reducing unnecessary barriers while maintaining critical cybersecurity protections, we are strengthening the industrial base and expanding opportunities for the companies that power the Arsenal of Freedom.
