Distinguished Young Women of Washington County

Distinguished Young Women of Washington County 2026 DYW: Ashton Jones Each year we make over $820 million dollars in scholarships available. Local program winners advance to the state level.

Distinguished Young Women is a unique program that combines the chance to win college scholarships with a program that offers Life Skills training to prepare young women for the world after high school. The program takes place in all 50 states and Washington DC with some states having local programs as well. Young women participate in their junior year of high school and the summer before their se

nior year. Each Distinguished Young Women program evaluates participants in the following categories: Scholastics (25%), Interview (25%), Talent (20%), Fitness (15%), and Self-Expression (15%). All state winners participate in the National Finals which is held in Mobile, Alabama the June after you graduate from high school. In addition, through our Life Skills program, which includes workshops and online resources, participants can learn skills like interviewing, public speaking, self-confidence building and much more. These skills not only prepare everyone for our program but also for the world after high school and college.

The wait is almost over! 🇺🇸✨

Tomorrow, our Washington County Distinguished Young Women will take the stage after months of hard work, preparation, and dedication. We are so proud of each participant and all they have accomplished throughout this journey.

As you get ready for the big day, remember to enjoy every moment, trust yourselves, and let your personalities shine. No matter what happens tomorrow night, you have already made your families, friends, and community proud.

🇺🇸❤️ As we prepare for tomorrow’s Washington County Distinguished Young Women program, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our reigning Distinguished Young Woman, Ashton Jones, for representing our county with grace, leadership, and enthusiasm throughout the past year.

Ashton has been a wonderful mentor and role model to this year’s participants, and her words perfectly capture the excitement surrounding this week:

“This year has been more exciting and fulfilling than I could have ever imagined! I have loved getting to watch these girls learn, grow and prepare to give it their all tomorrow. I can’t wait for everyone to see the hard work and effort they have put forth to make this program wonderful! It has been an honor to represent Washington County, and I know it will continue to be represented admirably!”

Thank you, Ashton, for your dedication to our program and for being an outstanding ambassador for Washington County. We are so proud of all you have accomplished and grateful for the impact you have made on this year’s class.
