CFG - Gambia

CFG - Gambia Children in the urban areas of The Gambia are more privileged to benefiting certain facilities than those in the rural areas.

Children’s Foundation the Gambia (CFG) is a Local Charitable Organization established on 18th
August 2010 to provide support to rural people especially children and women in the areas of
education. Children’s Foundation The Gambia is born to help the state and other actors in the promotion, protection and provision of services for the development of children, with specific focus on the rural ch

ildren. For instance a child in Banjul have more access to good education, health, accommodation, clothing, feeding, play than a child from a remote village, when all of them are supposed to have equal access to education, health etc whilst living in the same country. Access to recreational facilities, good drinking water and Early Childhood education and development are inadequate for rural children in the Gambia. This has placed a rural child more disadvantaged to an urban child. Many organisations have been established in The Gambia promoting the rights and welfare of children but their scopes are mostly limited to children in the urban areas with little or sometimes no intervention for the urban child. This foundation will help fill this gap. It will work to provide learning materials for rural children, build their capacities to participate among other things for their continued growth and development

Today, we commemorate the Day of the African Child, a day dedicated to honoring the courage, resilience, and potential of children across our continent.

This year’s theme, “Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Every Child in Africa,” reminds us that access to clean water, safe sanitation, and proper hygiene is not a privilege it is a fundamental right for every child. These basic necessities are essential for children’s health, education, dignity, and overall well-being.

As we celebrate the Day of the African child today, let us also renew our commitment to creating a future where every child can grow, learn, and thrive in a safe and healthy environment.

Happy Day of the African Child.

As part of the CFG Changemakers Mentorship Training, participants in Kiang Manduar were trained in tie-and-dye techniques as a practical skill for income generation and creativity. The training equipped changemakers with knowledge and hands-on experience in fabric dyeing methods that can be applied to various materials, including T-shirts, bed sheets, pillowcases, and other fabric items.

This skill provides participants with an opportunity to create unique products for personal use, entrepreneurship, and community development. By learning tie-and-dye techniques, the changemakers are better positioned to explore small business opportunities and contribute to local economic empowerment.

What a comeback by CFG Academy! 🔥⚽

CFG Academy went 2 goals down early, but Bakary Sanyang stepped up when the team needed him most, scoring twice before halftime to bring the game level and restore confidence. 💪

In the second half, Ablie Darboe produced a brilliant strike from outside the 18-yard box to complete the comeback. To make the night even more special, Bakary Sanyang sealed his hat-trick in style after an amazing solo run past several defenders. 🌟

A performance full of passion, teamwork, and determination. One Team, One Dream! 💙💛⚽

Congratulations to CFG’s Football Academy.
