CFG - Gambia Children in the urban areas of The Gambia are more privileged to benefiting certain facilities than those in the rural areas.

Children’s Foundation the Gambia (CFG) is a Local Charitable Organization established on 18th
August 2010 to provide support to rural people especially children and women in the areas of
education. Children’s Foundation The Gambia is born to help the state and other actors in the promotion, protection and provision of services for the development of children, with specific focus on the rural children. For instance a child in Banjul have more access to good education, health, accommodation, clothing, feeding, play than a child from a remote village, when all of them are supposed to have equal access to education, health etc whilst living in the same country. Access to recreational facilities, good drinking water and Early Childhood education and development are inadequate for rural children in the Gambia. This has placed a rural child more disadvantaged to an urban child. Many organisations have been established in The Gambia promoting the rights and welfare of children but their scopes are mostly limited to children in the urban areas with little or sometimes no intervention for the urban child. This foundation will help fill this gap. It will work to provide learning materials for rural children, build their capacities to participate among other things for their continued growth and development

We’ve finally concluded our 10-day camping and evening showcase tour across 10 different villages in the Lower River Region. 🎭🇬🇲

It was an amazing experience, from the morning theatre and creative sessions with school-going children to the evening showcases that brought communities together through entertainment, education, and storytelling.

Children Foundation The Gambia (CFG) is grateful for the opportunity to be part of this incredible journey and for the meaningful connections made with communities along the way.

A heartfelt thank you to First Drop Initiative and Theatre Without Borders for making this experience possible and for using theatre as a powerful tool to engage, educate, and inspire young people and communities.

Today, we took our community engagement to Sotokoi, and it was truly an amazing experience.

The community came out to enjoy, learn, and engage through theatre and entertainment. Our Italian partners delivered another impressive performance, using theatre as a powerful tool to educate and connect with the community.

A big thank you to everyone in Sotokoi for the warm welcome and wonderful energy. We continue to move from village to village, creating meaningful conversations through theatre, culture, and community engagement. ❤️🇬🇲

Different villages, same team, same mission. 🇬🇲🇮🇹

We completed today’s community engagement on a high note in Njolfen Village, where a theatre showcase was held to entertain, engage, and educate community members through the power of theatre.

Our Italian team did an amazing job, using creativity and performance to connect with the community and share meaningful messages.

We still have 8 more villages to visit in the Lower River Region, and we look forward to continuing this journey of learning, entertainment, and community engagement together. 🎭❤️

It was a great day in Kwinella yesterday as we began our community engagement on theatre and entertainment. Our partners from Italy presented an inspiring play, while the Kanyelleng group also delivered a powerful and entertaining performance.

It was a wonderful opportunity to bring together culture, theatre, and community engagement while creating meaningful spaces for young people to learn, express themselves, and appreciate the power of storytelling.

We had a productive and inspiring meeting with our partners from Italy as we prepare for the upcoming 10-day capacity-building programme on arts, entertainment, and mentorship.

Both teams shared ideas, exchanged experiences, and strengthened our collaboration. The meeting opened with remarks from our Chairman, Mr. Nfamara Dabo, followed by an introduction from the Italian team’s Team Lead, Mr. Musa Dabo of First Drop Initiative.

Our discussions focused on the programme’s goals and the powerful role arts and entertainment can play in educating, inspiring, and engaging young people. We also explored opportunities for deeper collaboration and ways to make the capacity-building and mentorship sessions as meaningful and impactful as possible.

It was a valuable and encouraging meeting that brought our teams closer and laid a strong foundation for a successful 10-day programme. We look forward to the journey ahead and the positive impact this initiative will have on young people.
