In 2010, after the loss of husband Brian, age 36, and son Nathan, age 8, Camilla (Keese) Molica and her father-in-law, Craig Keese, created this foundation in hopes to educate the public about how to make open water recreation safe for all ages.

Swimming in open water (lakes, rivers, ponds, etc.) is different than swimming in a pool due to wave action, currents, depth, and no close access to safe ways to get out of the water. Swimming in undesignated areas is the leading activity for most drownings that occur at USACE lakes and river projects, so be prepared and please wear a life jacket when swimming, floating, and playing in open water.

Good tip to remember as we come into lake season!

Many people drown every year retrieving objects, like boats that have drifted away. Please keep your life jacket with you after you have launched your boat in case your boat drifts away and you need it to retrieve it. Also, knowing how to tie a proper knot can help too.

15 years without them. Seems like just yesterday they were here, but also like a lifetime has passed. ❤️💔❤️

To honor Brian and Nathan, please wear a life jacket and ask your state legislators to increase mandatory wear requirements in your state. https://wavesofhopeboating.org Brian and Nathan Keese Water Safety Foundation Safe Boating Campaign Families United to Prevent Drowning

There's no sense in counting on just luck while boating. It's more important to be assured of personal safety while boating by wearing a properly fitted, zipped or buckled life jacket. And, if you're ever have the thought of just being lucky and not wearing a life jacket, check out the U.S. Coast Guard's boat accident/fatality statistics (http://www.uscgboating.org/statistics/accident_statistics.php).
Don’t rely on luck. Be prepared and WEAR IT!
