Pioneer Valley Bonsai Society

Pioneer Valley Bonsai Society Practicing, promoting and teaching the Art of Bonsai since 1988. Our society offers a friendly hands-on approach to the art of Bonsai.

The Pioneer Valley Bonsai Society, is a group created by Bonsai enthusiasts from the Greater Springfield (Massachusetts) area. Members of the group learn the art of Bonsai, through instruction, hands-on activities and sharing each other's personal experiences. Throughout the year, our monthly meetings feature a large range of Bonsai topics, everything from basic care techniques to preparation of

Bonsai for display. All skill levels are welcome. If you are a beginner looking for a place to learn about bonsai, or a experienced artist wishing to share your knowledge, The Bonsai Society of Greater Springfield would love to have you join. Members are encouraged to bring plants that they'd like to share, or need guidance with to our meetings. We hope to see you at our future meetings. If you are interested in Bonsai, then come and learn with us!

Edited: Hello everyone. Thanks for your input. Here is the stone I originally posted about. I've decided not to cut it and instead to ask Sean Smith to make a diaza for me.

This picture is where I'd conceptually like to go with this. The 2 larches, both planted in stones, are sitting on a Nick Lenz slab that broke cleanly in 1/2 when someone dropped it (not me!). The display would have the waterfall rock act as the head of the river between both slabs.

I need to come up with a way to set the big stone set up so I can leave it outside all summer.

Thanks to everyone who replied to this. It's appreciated.

What a great day. David Bressem and I worked out a deal on my big Red Pine. Moving it was much easier than I expected, and it fit perfectly in David's beautiful plantings!
