Care That Meets People Where They Are
Recently, a mother called ahead to ask if her daughter could shop our pantry on her behalf. Because of her disability, she wasn’t able to come in herself, and her teenage daughter, who is on the autism spectrum, was feeling very anxious about the experience.

When she arrived, it was clear she was overwhelmed. Our team slowed things down, stayed with her, and helped her feel safe. At one point, she said, “I just need a friend,” and that’s exactly how she was treated.

This is what our volunteers do every day. They meet people in the middle of complicated situations, take the time to understand what’s needed, and make sure no one has to navigate it alone.

Our volunteers often go above and beyond to welcome neighbors who walk through our doors.

Sometimes that means navigating language barriers with patience, kindness, and a little help from translation apps. Over 13 languages were spoken in the pantry just in the last few months!

It's just one of the many ways they make Crosslines a place where people feel seen and supported đź’™
