Now that summer is waning and we’re all getting back to business, the MWCA Board is asking for your help and participation on the Traffic Calming Task Force for our neighborhood.

The needed help is to make neighbors aware of the locations of proposed speed tables, and gain concurrence before FCDOT will install. This effort is an hour or two of your time over the next month.

I believe that all are aware of the speeding, running stop signs, passing cars going 25 MPH, reckless driving, etc. It’s a problem in our neighborhood, and only a matter of time before something happens - again.

Many kinds of vehicle incidents do occur in our Neighborhood. The Traffic Calming is intended as exactly that – calming effect on speed and increased attention from drivers.

At the request of MWCA and the Franconia District Office, FCDOT has been active in our area with surveys, markings, and planning.

Please reach out to anyone on the MWCA Board at [email protected] or directly to Traffic Calming Chair Mitch Filipowicz.

Last week, some good neighbors cleaned up two bags of trash from Deepford Street at Lewis Park/ Springboard Pool. Food and drink detritus, diapers, broken glass, airline bottles, and some unidentifiable purple plastic things. Thanks all, for cleaning up! Neighbors, please keep an eye out and if you see litterbugs in action - call the non-emergency number 703 691 2131 within 30 minutes, and the Police will receive and may take action on your report. Our neighborhood, State, Nation, and World need to be clean and safe for all inhabitants. Earth Day is coming up!!
